"Lovely traditional home from home"

9.0

Lovely traditional home decorated to a very high standard, with lots of quirky touches and personality. Very good welcome pack. Central to Rabat, which is a lovely area, very close to Mdina. Easy access to buses and taxis to explore other areas. Karl, the host, was very nice, helpful and available when we had a small issue.

Nothing to dislike. Our only suggestion would be extra cutlery and mugs as dishwasher available.

"TERRIBLE. MISERABLE. No sleep or hot water."

1.0

The coffee machine. That’s it.

NOISE. NOISE. NOISE. NOISE. NOISE. COULD NOT SLEEP PAST THE FIRST NIGHT. He is aware that construction goes on constantly on these old buildings. And they start early morning even on WEEKENDS including SUNDAY!!! Then enter having NO HOT WATER TO ENJOY A SHOWER. After my stay, he’s denying it to booking.com. I have our messages back n forth where he does not deny my claims. He also told booking.com that I was allowed to cancel the reservation. Not true. It was non-refundable. He was only willing to let me change it to future dates, not cancel and get the money back. Now after the worst stay I’ve ever had, at the most I’ve ever paid, he doesn’t even feel that no hot water at $141 a night deserves any sort of refund. Helping me with my phone esim and telling me there’s restaurants/directions to stores nearby, etc, yes, is very nice, but does not negate the horrible accommodation it ended up being. If I can’t sleep or shower, it’s a zero no matter what other lovely assistance you provided. ZERO. I can buy my own beverages. That’s not a reason to pay what I paid. My friends stayed at a hotel near the water in Silema for a fraction of what I paid and had a stellar stay. It is not that hard to get from there to Rabat or to the capital city. I advise to choose your stay more carefully than I did. Also he swore I’d want to be in the upstairs bedroom, but it was tiny and had like no room to open both of my suitcases all the way. I hit my foot on the left corner of the bed at least ten times while I was there. The bed covers like 80% of the floor space. Also no room darkening or covering of bathroom window where neighbors can see you nude. I had to cover it myself. And also to try to get darkness. But construction woke me and kept me up anyway. So with lack of sleep I was sick by the time I left. I wasn’t going home. I headed to Istanbul where my trip was hindered by being sick.
