Dreamy Suffolk Country Cottage Escape

Waveney Cottage is located in quietly pretty countryside, not overrun with tourists, but within easy driving distance of Norwich, the Broads, the Suffolk coast and several attractions, and close enough to the scenic town of Beccles that you can buy anything you need. The cottage is very stylishly decorated, and it has a fairly large garden with outdoor dining facilities, as well as the added bonus of very friendly rescue chickens pottering about.

Unfortunately the weather was unseasonably cold and wet during our stay and it was difficult to get enough warmth from the radiators or enough hot water for a bath, so instructions for the heating and the complicated oven would be useful.

Everything was delightful, a beautiful space set in beautiful countryside, perfect for us. Hosts are very friendly and attentive whenever you need them but give plenty of privacy and space to enjoy the cottage. Lots of thoughtful extras really went the extra mile. Highly recommended.

The location. Quiet, picturesque and very close to Beccles town (which we love). Wood burner and complementary logs (great touch) Complementary wine, tea, coffee, milk, sugar and biscuits (very generous) Shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and plenty of toilet rolls. Unusual in a self catering property and much appreciated. Excellent value for money.

Nothing we didn’t like particularly, the kitchen and bathroom are looking a little tired and could do with updating. The power shower won’t keep a regular temperature, it’s either freezing or scalding. A plague of ladybugs which we had to hoover up each day from around the windows (however we appreciate that this can’t be helped, we have the same issue with them at home) All the things mentioned are just niggles and wouldn’t put us off returning in the slightest.

Absolutely gorgeous cottage in Suffolk, would definitely recommend to everyone. We went for a long weekend away for my husband's 30th birthday and we were not disappointed. The cottage is located within close proximity to nearby towns and beaches, but also out of the way so it was incredibly peaceful. We brought our 2 dogs with us and enjoyed exploring with them on some beautiful walks. Again, the cottage was rural enough that we didn't see anyone so we could enjoy the Suffolk countryside by ourselves. The cottage itself was immaculate and beautifully presented. The biscuits and bottle of cava on arrival were a lovely touch. Our hosts, Anissa and Kevin, were lovely too, with a nice welcoming text message and promise that they were on hand for anything we needed. We saw lots of wildlife in our short stay; deer, partridges, ducks and ladybugs just to mention a few. We also loved watching our hosts chickens and duck wander the gardens, it became a game of spot the hen! Thank you Anissa and Kevin for a wonderful break!
