"Nice and cozy cottage in quiet area."

9.0

Remote and quiet. Nicely located in the heart of the Dales National Park. Very cozy.

I am tall and it is a small, old cottage. Naturally one has to be careful as ceilings are low. The shower could be improved with a repair. Despite a closed door (as much closed as possible) water leaks to the bathroom floor. This is a bit annoying.

"Cosy long weekend"

10.0

The location was incredible, just over the hill from a glorious view of Semer Water! It is very rural, but this adds to the experience and it is only a short drive to Hawes. The property is very cosy, with quaint rooms and cleverly used spaces. The cottage was lovely and warm with the central heating on, and the log stove was incredible! We loved sitting by the fire. It is immaculately clean, with everything that you would need in the kitchen and bathroom. The owners also leave a very informative and interesting history of the cottage which was a great read. Would totally recommend.

Headroom was limited in parts! However, the hosts have clearly marked the low headroom doorway- this added to the charm for us.

"Didn’t want to leave."

8.0

Everything about the property was excellent; it was spotlessly clean and had everything needed to make stay as comfortable as possible from kitchen utensils and condiments to logs and firefighters for the fire. All added up to a very cosy experience. Also, all instructions from the host were very clear.

Nothing to dislike.

"Smashing time!"

10.0

Everything was perfect! It was easy to find & access after following given instructions. Safe and spacious place to park. Beautiful garden to sit in, with an excellent view. The cottage itself was immaculate and very cosy. The host thought of everything and communication was great. Location is brilliant for so many of the Yorkshire Dales walks and for visiting surrounding towns; Aysgarth Falls, Hardraw Force, Hawes and Skipton (for afternoon tea on a boat). We will definitely go back one day!

"A wonderful stay in a unique rural retreat."

8.0

Beautiful, remote, rural location. Exceptionally quiet, tranquil and traditional. Beautiful old cottage with an amazing history. The perfect location as a base to explore the dales if you're into hiking and perfect if you have a car to get to the local amenities etc. The kitchen is well kitted out to the point where you could easily cook a good meal and feed a family! Al so there was tea and coffee at the property and a pack of nice biscuits. Some milk would have been useful though!

The place is wonderful. Anna has provided lots of information about the local area and recommendations for food which is wonderful. I would stress though, that a lot of the places are closed during the week, or don't serve food, or only accept bookings, so please be prepared and book in advance if you want to eat out. Also there are no shops open past 6pm, sp if you want provisions, snacks etc etc, you need to get them during the day time! Also, the place is not suitable for tall people! The ceilings are very low and the doorways even lower! If you're over 6' I wouldn't recommend!

"A delightful time we would have liked to extend"

10.0

For such an ancient building, the interior has been very cleverly designed to meet today`s standards of comfort without changing the overall atmosphere of being in a house that has seen a few centuries. The kitchen was better equipped than most we have come across in many years of travel. The fireplace is a plus, even though the LPG central heating was very effective. Historic features such as "bee boles" harmonically fitted into the more modern interior. The lake is a short walk, and the cute town of Hawes with its pubs, shops and sights (Wensleydale creamery, National Park centre ... ) a short drive only.
