"Comfy, homely, great location."

10.0

Brilliant location for access to the centre of Torquay. We parked the car the day we arrived and then walked everywhere for the week. The house was very clean, comfortable and homely. Basics we weren’t expecting to be provided were provided, such as hand soap in the kitchen and bathroom and washing up liquid in the kitchen. The beds were comfy and the shower was excellent. I struggled to operate the oven at one point and so I messaged the host, Josh, and he was very quick to reply with the information needed and the problem was solved swiftly. It was a lovely place to stay while we explored Torquay and worked very well for us as a family of four.

Nothing - it was wonderful

"Gute Wahl, kann man noch verbessern"

8.0

Gut eingerichtete Wohnung, ruhig gelegen. Parkplatz auf dem Gelände. Preis/ Leistung völlig in Ordnung.

"It is a nice property but there is a sense of "don't care" about the place."

5.0

The property was nicely secure behind electric gates which worked perfectly well after retrieving the fob from inside the house. Clean and reasonably comfortable as a holiday let, although the beds are very soft, which is a subjective critisism as just because we prefer firm matresses it doesn't mean everyone does. There is an iron and board in the main bedroom wardrobe and a hair dryer for use between the occupants. A powerful shower in the bathroom operated by the bath taps, although not thermostatically controlled. Sensible blackout blinds keep the early morning light at your control! Although the impression given was that the property was a short walk to the town centre and all amenities it didn't suggest that you would need an oxygen mask to climb your way back up!

The keysafe code had changed between one email and the next so although I could find the second one it took me a while with all the other emails received to find the first (and correct) one, I'd have thought the second one would have been the right one. Nearly everything is once fashionably (for rental properties) grey, which is a bit depressing in the off-season when the skies can be of the same hue! No welcoming flowers on the table (a few plastic plants dotted around) or pint of semi-skimmed in the fridge but hey-ho! Talking of the fridge the inside light bulb doesn't work. The boiler has been replaced and the 'welcome pack' instructions didn't reflect this, fortunately an enquiring mind will discover the wireless control perched on a kitchen shelf and work it out. A pleasant ambient standard lamp uplighter illuminates the living area, although the reading lamp bulb doesn't work. Upstairs to the bedrooms and bathroom, the door handle to the latter is broken and although the catch keeps the door closed it could do with some attention. The isolator switch for the extractor fan is high up on the outside wall. The small bedroom has enough room for the double bed, nightstand and mirror finish chest of drawers, the knob handles of which have protruding bolts on the inside of the drawers which are dangerous to the hands and your smalls, if you're not careful! The main ceiling lamp pulses alarmingly after it has been switched on for a while, perhaps the bulb is on it's way out, the bedside lamp seems to come our in sympathy with it, whether connected to the same fault I have no idea. What the smaller bedroom lacks in storage space the main bedroom compensates for with an array of drawers and a small wardrobe, one drawer is completely missing from one white melamine unit - odd. There are no coat hooks anywhere in the property, a few downstairs would be handy for coats, jackets, whatever.

"Disastrous checkin procedures. More thorough cleaning required."

7.0

The house itself is very nice. Good kitchen and bathroom .Good mattresses.

It is NOT a short walk to town and seafront. It is situated well up a very steep hill ( the name Torquay is not by chance). Proper grocery stores are down in the town and walking back up the hill with groceries is not a pleasant thought. We took taxis. If you have a car, you're fine. If not, think twice about staying here.. Also, our check in was a disaster. On the day we arrived, it was pouring with rain. After the taxi dropped us off, we proceeded to the house, guided by picture which later turned out to be wrong. We then discovered the code for the keybox we had was wrong..,After contacting the landlord, I was told I had not submitted the checkin form and that's why I had the incorrect code. I told the landlords' father who was covering for his son, that I had submitted the form ages ago..( Remember, all this is going on during a downpour.) The gentleman finally gave me the code and in we went. A little while later, I received an email apologizing for the incorrect code as they had discovered that I had indeed filled out and sent the form several weeks ago. They also sent the correct pictures to guide us to the house, A little pointless I thought, but it's the thought that counts. It did not however make up for the fact that due to their inefficient data base, we had to stand about in the rains of Ranchipur trying to get inside. We were disappointed to discover that the kitchen floor was sticky and needed washing. The bannister at the top of the stairs on the bedroom floor were greasy as were the pot handles on some of the pots and pans in the kitchen Truly off putting. A great shame, because as I wrote earlier, the house itself is very nice indeed. However, the handprints on the glass doors leading to the patio were not a welcome sight. All in all a disappointing stay from the very beginning. I would not return.
