Justa Cottage

Perfect location! Couldn’t be more central to Shaldon.

Loved the property, could have been a little cleaner in the kitchen area (but we think this was just settled dust/fire ash on the kitchen sides & previous use of some cups/pans) & heating isn’t the easiest to turn on but the owner did send very good detailed instructions. The stairs up to the loft room are very open & not nice to use as there isn’t an handrail, especially if you don’t like heights & really aren’t any good for children. We didn’t have any TV or Internet on arrival but the owner made contact with her son who lives locally and got an engineer out to the property in a few days. It was our last day but finally Sky / BT fixed the issue and connection was back on. (No fault of the owner, the wiring had corroded outside the property). Overall a lovely property and very comfortable, very central and would 100% stay here again.

The cottage is in a prime location.Close to the town

Would have helped if there were instruction on the use of central heating and Tv.

the location of Justa Cottage was brilliant. we loved the size of the cottage.. there was plenty of room for myself, my partner and our daughter and her partner. the kitchen was lovely and well equipped. the beds were comfortable and clean. we loved the old pictures of Shaldon dotted around. the log burner was gorgeous but luckily we didn't have to use it as the weather was lovely and hot. there were plenty of basics like washing up liquid, condiments, hand soap, towels, tea towels, toilet rolls.

we felt that Justa Cottage could do with a bit of modernisation. we found the lampshades and blinds a little grubby and some of the blinds were broken. We found the floor in the living area a little dirty too... after removing our shoes the first time we went in, our feet were quite mucky after a short time. maybe it was still sandy from the previous occupants? we were quite shocked to find the railings on the decked area loose and very unsafe. the outside space could have done with a good scrub, which would have made it a little more inviting.

Check was easy but the only piece I would say that needs more support is the parking. You have to go down narrow streets and parking is limited. I assume that it has a reserved space but none of this detail was provided. One night there were no spaces and it was difficult to understand if a space should have been available or not.

Great place. If I was being picky I would say the boiler/ hot water should have been checked before we got in as it would have saved time and some discomfort on the 1st morning. They only other issue for me is the low doorways as I kept banging my head on the kitchen/living room frame but no one else had that issue.

Location superb

The house was not clean, mouldy food left from previous customers. Ladder type stairs to top floor. Lots of clutter. Parking outside house very difficult unless it's a very small car.

Not very clean, no hot water, no welcome info (wifi details etc) dirty toothbrush holders, some bed linen not changed from previous guests!

I liked it was so close to a local village shops, things to do, pubs, and the beach! Even if I had to drive somewhere it was all a short distance away! Perfect location for my family and friends, we loved it. Didn’t want to leave. The house was clean, tidy, comfortable, everything is there facilities wise all I needed was to provide food and drinks. Will definitely want to come back :)
