I had a terrible experience at A la Muràgghje "A" in Monopoli, Italy. The apartment was filled with a strong cigarette smoke smell, which was unbearable and a major health risk as I have asthma. Despite raising this issue with the host, their response was dismissive and unhelpful—they only used air freshener, which didn't solve the problem. After trying to air out the apartment for a day, the smell remained, making it impossible for me to stay due to breathing difficulties. I requested a refund so I could find another place to stay, but the host refused. This was a distressing experience, and I would not recommend this accommodation.

Parking could be difficult to find but it was the Easter weekend. Found paid parking on the road which was not expensive

The apartment was clean and everything was modern and new. It was well equipped right down to basics such as cleaning products/cloths/dishwasher./coffee pods Although even though the washing machine was an advertised feature they didn't leave detergent. Plenty of wardrobe and hanging space for two people.

Parking is an issue and not unlike other Puglian towns we visited. We were told there was free parking around the square - we only found free parking on one day. Every other day it was metred hourly rate parting and we had to pay 25E to park overnight. We were staying in Sept. Peak season must be even more busy to get parked. I asked the letting agency if there was a parking lot that had a weekly rate and they didn't answer the question. But if you don't have a car then that's not going to be a problem. However to explore the surround area you do need a car. The local beach is small to get to the bigger ones requires car. Consider carefully at the pictures advertising the property, the bedroom is quite small and especially the bathroom. But the owner has made the best use of the available space. There is a picture of an outside terrace with table and chairs. This is in fact situated in the communal internal atrium to all the apartments constantly in shade and very pokey so not an inviting place to sit; it's also right outside the door to another apartment not this one. Whilst the apartment is situated at the port, which you can see to the left of the balcony window a stone's throw from the historic centre, it is also right opposite a noisy nightclub. So if you aren't a night owl and want a quiet setting this location isn't ideal. The living room balcony window (french doors with metal railings) is just above the street level so we didn't feel able to leave it open and sit there either because it is not private with people right outside. The balcony window and one other small port-hole window were the only two windows letting in natural light into the entire apartment. It mean that the space didn't feel like it was somewhere you would like to spend time. But if it's somewhere to base to go out and explore then it's fine. This is on ground floor so we could hear the residents above early morning.
