Casa Gentile

We had a great time here, a very normal neighbourhood yet Ortigia is about 10 minutes walking, a very nice walk, too. The apartment is amazing; I'd gladly move in myself! It has 2 nice balconies and the bed is amazing. Contact with the owner was very friendly and easy. Siracusa is a wonderful place, and very safe too. We will definitely go back and we'll be staying at Casa Gentile!

A large apartment with a kitchen. an elevator to 4th floor. fast check in. comfortable mattress.

It takes time to find a street parking. we parked 2 small blocks away. There is a bad smell in the bathroom and seems like some different smell in the living room, maybe from the gas stove.

I decided to take a few minutes to review this place in Syracuse, because it's important that people know what it's like to rent here. I rent my beach house in Brazil and the care I put into welcoming people is incomparable with what I suffered here. Firstly, I arrived 20 minutes before the ridiculous check-in time, (3pm check-in, 9am check-out), and I sent a message to the hostess. She said I could leave my bags outside the apartment bc it was still being cleaned (again, 20 min before checkin time). The reason for my request, which seemed absurd, was because my mother, that is 76, was jet lagged and needed to lie down. The glorious hostess with no education welcomed me shouting, saying the checkin time was 3pm, making some rude genture to me and my elderly mother. It was scary. Later we returned after 3pm to finally go in and unfortunately I had to come across her again, where she showed the rooms of the house (horrible and uncomfortable), shouting and with food in her mouth, at the same time she was talking on her cell phone via speaker phone with another person. Screaming too. The house is spacious and that's it. Horrendous furniture, shabby towels, dangerous bathroom step, terrible decor. In the middle of the room there are 2 beach loungers. The bunch of keys that you have to guess which is the key/lock combination are a charm to complete the facilities of the accommodation, such as the moldy musical shower that doesn't work and the lack of soap for the wash machine. I will never go back and I think it's important to know what you are paying for. I’m always travelling and my ruler is very calm, but it was terrible. Another observation is there is no place no park the car near the apartment. Not her fault, thats a problem of the city.

Location, very close to Ortegia

Very poor communication with the Owner, she doesn't speak English, she didn't give us clear instructions about where is the the key, we waited by the door, asking some neighbors to call her, because she didn't answer our call. The apartment is located in a good area, close to Ortegia, but we were hit by the smell of mold and dampness when we entered inside. Overall the apartment is clean, but there is a heavy smell inside.
