Candle House, Winster, in the Peak District

The quirkiness. Lovely and clean. Loved the period features and the garden.

Nothing loved it all. The shower could have done with a bit of tlc and the handrail is coming off the wall. Apart from that it was beautiful.

Beautiful house in a very interesting village and great part of the Peak District with easy access to tourist hot-spots and wonderful hiking opportunities. The garden was lovely - just right for sitting outside with a glass of wine after a long day.

Would suggest owner puts up a parking sign with 'Please only park here if you are staying in Candle House' - someone parked across the front of the house all weekend so we had to park further down the hill.

Beautiful large house with two comfortable living rooms, large bathroom and well appointed kitchen. Great to have the washing machine and tumble dryer in the ground floor toilet with a toddler too! The downstairs lounge is perfect for a log fire after dinner and the upstairs lounge has all the afternoon sunlight. Well located on the walking trails and Winster is a great base for exploring Dovedale, Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Bakewell and Buxton.

The standard of facilities and decor was excellent overall.

Some small but important issues to address. 1. The bathroom window wont open. It might have been painted in. As there is no other ventilation, that could become an issue over time with condensation. 2. The filler valve for water in the bathroom loo is mis-set which means that water is constantly running. Doesn’t effect how the loo works but is a significant waste of water. Also could there be a cheese grater please?

Beautiful cosy and warm cottage. Very well equipped kitchen - would love to come back in the summer and make the most of the garden.

No recycling information - we bought glass bottles home!

Lovely property really clean and lived the 2 sitting rooms! Beautiful, thoughtful decor and lovely period features! Good communication with host.

Parking is an issue. Be praised to park in the village. Even one car was tricky

Idyllic and Stunning location. Beautiful 3 storey cottage which was extremely well equipped and cosy. We wish we could have stayed longer and will absolutely be returning. Comfortable beds and 2x log burners. Village shop is very close with logs and supplies.

The main door lock, when locking/unlocking from the inside is very temperamental and took me about 5 minutes at one point trying to open the door.
