Ainotsuji Machiya House

Great location so close to the train station you could walk. Very convenient to most attractions. Loved that we got the entire house to ourselves. Great bathtub with a view and very peaceful

Outstanding, loved our stay

As I communicated our precise train arrival time, staff was waiting by the street to welcome us. Open the door with code is very easy. Location of the house is fantastic, interior is beautiful.

The sofa is too big for the living room leaving not much space for us to move around.

Tiny kitchen wasn't super useful

Townhouse is stunningly beautiful and very traditional Japanese feel. The location was perfect for Kanazawa, walking distance to the train station but in a cute neighborhood. Be sure to check out the Curio Cafe a few minutes walk away for great coffee. The downstairs bathroom was incredible while the upstairs one more adequate.

The beds are futons on the floor in two out of the three rooms. The other room has Western style beds. The futons are not the most comfortable and initially they didn’t make up all three rooms for the three adults staying there even though I had specifically asked them to. To use the gorgeous bathroom downstairs you need to be staying in a futon room downstairs. I didn’t mind the beds but some people might. Also there is a washing machine but good luck figuring it out. After some time with online manuals in English we got it to wash but it never dried. It was also very buggy. We had to take our laundry to a laundromat down the street to dry because the machine didn’t dry.

House is located not far away from Kanazawa Station. Main attractions like Samurai quarter or Kanazawa castle and the super beautiful Kenrokue Garden are easily reached by foot. Some bakeries in the vicinity, also good and exceptional restaurants. Check-in and Out was easy and the staff very nice.

Great location and plenty of space. Loved the small garden. Easy checkin and checkout. 5 minute walk to the market. Would book there again.

Only complaint is that the walls are pretty thin.
