Sant'Elmo House Valletta

Great location and excellent host who was very flexible with times to help accommodate our stay

Great apartment in the historical part of Valletta, practically on the main street. The host, Caterina is very helpful and kind. The apartment is clean and comfortable; really affordable price. A remark: I saw in the reviews that some clients are not satisified with the high humidity, but Malta is an island , so it is natural. The apartment however has heaters and also dehumidifier which is another very good commodity for Valletta climate conditions.

Everything was great. I would recommend additional pillows because the existing ones were quite flat . The apartment is on the ground floor which is good because practically there are no stairs but this also means less light, however it was not and important condition for us.

The apartment is very cosy and quiet. It is close to all of the restaurants and shops in Valletta. The shower is nice, the bed is comfortable. Everything is nearby for Valletta.

The property is perfect in every way. The space is wonderful, the location literally cannot improve, all of the facilities are ideal, and the hosts are ready and willing to help in any way.

The location is great, it's a quiet and small street at the edge of Valletta near the water. We slept well and overall found the apartment suitable for our needs. The communication with Caterina the host was easy and quick. She sent me all the information beforehand, and the check-in was hassle-free even that we arrived almost at midnight. Even in this late hour she was available and stayed in touch to make sure we managed to check in and that we have everything we need.

It is a cave-like apartment, damp and humid. Most of the furniture and the equipment was old, dirty, and/or half-broken. (For example: the shower leaks water on the floor; one chair had a broken leg; the washing machine was broken and there was really smelly water inside; the tap in the kitchen squeals when you open it; the toilet does the same after you flush it; the standing fans were not clean; the dresser was smelly; laundry rack is half-broken and dirty; even some cups and plates were dirty.) The photos are too flattering, I assume they were taken a few years ago, when the apartment was in better shape. The light in the apartment is low, especially in the shower. When we checked-in to the apartment there was a strong bad smell in it. We thought it's some kind of chemical; eventually we found out it came from a few wet rugs with floor cleaner liquid that were left in the apartment. The owner suggested that we turn on the fans and the ventilation system, which we did, but it did not solve the problem. Unfortunately, this was not the only bad smell we encountered in the apartment, there was mold-smell in a few places including wardrobe and kitchen.

The location of the house was excellent, the nearby restaurant very good. It is certainly a very nice stone traditional house.

The house was very humid, certainly the equipments are doing the job.

Great location, excellent contact with the owner, interested, helpful. Free mid-stay cleaning service with change of bed linen and towels. Lots of space, comfortable beds and full equipment of the apartment. To sum up: If you want to spend a lot of time in the apartment or you are allergic, this is not the place for you, if it is only supposed to be a place to sleep, because you are focused on visiting the charms of Valletta and admiring the island, then SantElmo meets expectations.

Damp, poor ventilation, limited daylight

The stay was great, the apartment clean and comfortable. The owner's attitude was excellent and helped us a lot. Communication was perfect and easy. Would recommend as a retreat when touring Valletta.
