Chater Cottage Rothbury

Very snug and well-equipped cottage.

Great location. Central yet quiet. Cottage thoughtfully kitted out. Lovely outside private space. Everything worked as it should. Co-op, lovely bakers and butchers plus assorted traditional shops, just over village green. Fantastic Italian restaurant and good pups very close by. Lovely evening walks along river.

Felt cramped, especially limited headroom in bedroon. Bedroom upstairs, whilst bathroom on ground floor.

Black mould at the bottom of the tiles in the shower.

we are not entirely sure about pets in accomodation as not everyone likes .

It was a well-equipped cottage in a conveniently central location.

It was described as having lake and river views but had neither. The bedroom was up very steep and creeky stairs but the toilet and bathroom were downstairs so a night-time visit to the toilet was difficult for anyone with even slight mobility issues and not possible without disturbing ones partner. Headroom upstairs was very limited - not possible to stand upright on one side of the bed. The shower was good but visibly spoiled by black mould round the edge of the floor. A large skylight just behind the bed headboard had no blind so we were woken by the dawn. We were not impressed by being told to strip the bed before leaving.

Good position in centre of Rothbury. Well equipped kitchen and plenty of seating for 4 both for a meal and relaxing. Responsive host when Wi-Fi code not working. Has underfloor heating which warms up quickly.

The bedroom is very compromised height wise. So if you are tall it might not be a good choice. Pillows were hard and very uncomfortable wished we had brought our own. TV at ceiling height.

Ridiculously squeaky bed, floor boards and stairs. No space round the side of the bed. No outdoor table or chairs (as seen in the pictures)
