2 bedroomed fisherman’s cottage near quay

Location was perfect for me. The cottage had everything in it that I needed. Sofa and bed very comfortable. Nice spot to sit outside in the sun. Would happily stay there again.

There were a few crumbs under the toaster, and a bit dusty here and there but nothing that a quick wipe with a cloth couldn't sort.

Wasn’t made clear parking was an additional cost. Excessively stained mugs and kitchen equipment. Stained pillowcase in second bedroom. Insufficient heating.

The location was good - set back from the main street and just 5 minutes walk down to the Quay. Able to park nearby whilst unloading. No extra fee for dogs. Cottage was quirky and COULD have been very nice indeed with more attention to detail.

We booked for my birthday weekend. When I queried being given check in details for different property (day before travel) the host told us we were going to be in Pebble cottage, not the property we booked. We looked at reviews and photographs (& through the windows of original booking) - despite what the host said, this certainly wasn't as spacious or a higher spec than our original. The en suite is a cupboard - you have to stand in the shower tray to use the toilet or sink. The toilet,a very noisy saniflow, is set too close to the wall, so unless you are a size 8, you're pressed against the tiles. The main issue with this cottage is cleanliness, or lack of - it is grimey and very much in need of a deep clean. We took photos on arrival - but in brief cobwebs - lots, not just from the last few days - huge webs and layers of dust on curtain rails etc. Ensuite sink sticky and dirty, lots of hair in shower drain, stray hairs on all surfaces throughout property. Downstairs windows dirty, someone had written clean me on the living room window. Plates dirty, cups and pans dirty - not been checked between use, inside of microwave dirty, oven mit filthy, oven gloves stains & hole. Bedding old and faded, stains on my pillow and cushions on bed threadbare. Crumbs on table and kitchen floor - we swept up crumbs, a pea and a green bean before we'd even settled in. Downstairs bathroom panels coming away from wall, toilet roll holder rusty and wobbly. Double bed creaks and squeaks every time you move. I could go on - all photographed - but you get the idea....GRUBBY! Garden misleading, a shared open area, so can't just open door for dogs to go out. It seems, in reviews that both the property being substituted and lack of cleanliness is a regular theme. I presume the host uses the nicest cottage to attract bookings to fill up the lesser appealing ones. If we had known sooner, we would have picked another property from our shortlist. We made the best of it!

cosy, clean, well equipped, quiet

Narrow winding staircase had to be negotiated with great caution (wouldn’t be suitable for some people). Didn’t find the heating controls particularly intuitive. Maybe would have been nice to provide a few food condiments - salt/pepper, sauce sachets?

Lovely clean comfy and warm cottage. Ideal location with car park opposite

we were changed to pebble cottage. it was so cosy peaceful and amazingly warm! we had such a lovely weekend and it exceeded our expectations. we had planned to stay at a pub with rooms and we are so glad we changed to here. it was just what we needed , peace and quiet and a roaring fire and a good book. we enjoyed the rustic feel, it was so nice to stay somewhere that felt traditional. thank you so so much x Beth and mark x

the stairs were tricky but it’s part of the style of the cottage and it just takes more care than just flying down your typical household stairs at a rate of knots.
