Casa azul

Wonderful villa, photos do not do it justice, has everything you could possibly need, home from home. Roomy and bright, villa is behind secure electric gates, parking for 2 cars easily. Kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, complimentary beer and wine in the fridge. Small supermarket 5 minute walk from villa, but if you have a car there are many Lidl supermarkets available. Seating area outside very comfortable with umbrella, dining table and chairs both inside and out. BBQ. Wi-Fi great. Washing machine which was great , airer outside clothes and towels dry in no time. Even had beach chairs and umbrellas to use. Beach Praia do Rei is great two restaurants, the fish restaurant of same name is excellent 5 stars for quality and staff. So many beaches to visit along this coast. We walked down to the Praia Do Rei restaurant took about 25 mins had a great meal and drinks then walked back up, narrow road and quite a hill but not difficult. Will definitely return. Lisbon 30 mins away, which was ideal. Visited Sintra which is so pretty, the palace gardens are so wonderful. Also went to Cabo da Roca, most amazing drive through the forests then out to the headland, views to die for. Love Portugal.

Having to leave 😢

The living room is spacious and had lots of light. You can park your car inside the property. The area is quiet and if you wish to leave the car outside the property is still had enough space for it. Also, when we checked-out I forgot a wallet with cash inside, and the owner graciously allowed us to have that wallet be picked up by someone we sent there. The owner was available throughout the stay which was good.

I don't think this house should be on Booking.com because this was not ready to be rented. It looks like we were squatting and occupying someone else's house. The house was a mess and I actually told the owner this by phone. He lives far away and his teenage son is the one who is around. The list of things that are wrong is so extensive that I don't want to embarrass the owners here, who seem to be kind people.

We liked that the house had all the appliances needed for a longer stay. The kitchen was well equipped and the living room cupboard had lots of different board games and dvds for kids. The bedrooms were quite big and laid out well, having additional pillows and blankets. The house has also an outdoor shower, which could be very useful during summer.

The house seemed to have been empty for some time as there was a very strong moldy odor mixed with tobacco smell, which we found intolerable. It would probably go away after the house is aired but at that time, it was so strong, we left earlier than planned. The house could also use some love as it felt somewhat abandoned. A couple of window blinds didn't work, the front gate motor was broken and the gate couldn't be locked because of that.
