The upstairs house was great. Nicely furnished, comfortable, clean and well equipped. The patio area was great, we spent most of out time out there. We enjoyed our stay at Zwartkloof, saw plenty of animals. The children enjoyed the pool.

1. The 4th bedroom was a bit disappointing as there are no screened windows that can be opened for ventilation. This is the section advertised as a flatlet but in reality it is just a bedroom and bathroom. Consider installing a hand rail at the steps to the outside room for safety.

No pool at the house! Nonetheless there was one on site! Lizards on the flat which the kids were scared of!

What an amazing location and house, giraffes at the end of the driveway! The house is very spacious beautiful, perfect for relaxing in nature in comfort. Pool, darts, table tennis and wildlife on your doorstep.

Our experience : 1. House was not ready until 16h00, way past check in 2. ⁠When we got there early, it was in a state but was being cleaned 3. ⁠There was only cold water in the scullery the entire weekend 4. ⁠There were no tablets for the dishwasher 5. ⁠Only 1 shower worked, the one in the main bedroom, this was for all 8 guests 6. ⁠The sliding door from the lounge onto the patio was broken and could not be opened 7. ⁠We had to take the gas bottle from the heater to use at the Braai, therefore could not make use of the heater too. There were bottles at the back but too large to move into the heater 8. ⁠The pot, we did put something in it which boiled over, we therefore paid the cleaning lady R100 to clean the pot, doesn’t seem like she did 9. ⁠We burnt a dishcloth, granted, we were liable for that 10. ⁠The Pool table, standing on pieces of wood and not level, we could not make use of it at all as it would collapse 11. ⁠The DSTV did not work 12. The outdoor blinds in the entertainment area could not roll up at all so not ventilation 13. There was a kettle Braai which we previously used as a fireplace, we did the same this time but without being able to open the blinds, the area was Smokey and the ceiling has brown dust on it. We made payment in full upfront only to then be pressured into another R1,500 refundable deposit but, because of the dusty roof and Smokey smell in the patio, the hosts withheld this deposit which was not required by this platform (Booking.com) but rather to the private bank account of the hosts. We loved the house the first time we booked it, it was the best ever. This time, it seems the house has been neglected, lots of things are old, not working and needs attention so the strategy is to take private deposits, then use it as a fine to the guests and not refund it. All the attendees are ready to come on this platform and express their experience too, I am expecting the hosts to do the right thing and refund us our deposit.

We only had hot water in the main bedroom. No hot water in kitchen or other bathrooms

Nice big house with lots of space for a big familiy. Easy to locate the property. Quiet and nice animal life around the area. Safe to walk around the area. Owners very communicative in resolving any issues/questions. Scheduled cleaning staff to do some basic cleaning was arranged as well.

Just having fans during mid-Summer is a bit limiting. House and rooms can be very warm. With the bug life, if you want the house to stay bug free you basically have to close the doors and try and use limited (external) light sources at night.
