"A restful, comfortable stay in a beautiful part of the world."

9.0

We loved the peace and quiet of its location. The views to the mountains are beautiful and ever changing. The cottage is attractive with a large garden; the beds are comfortable and the kitchen is spacious. Thoughtful extras such as milk and biscuits are a plus. We would definitely return.

The internet is extremely erratic, but this didn’t bother us as it was great to read in the evenings. A wash cloth and a sponge/ brush would be welcome in the kitchen.

It was like 'Home from home' Very comfortable & all the equipment we needed was there. The library was a bonus. Next time we may stay longer to be able to use that 😉 Sue was so friendly and accommodating. Nice to have personally met her 🌼 The biscuits were a lovely touch, thank you.

After a 10-hour drive, we arrived to find no wood or any form of heating, leaving us in an ice-cold and dark space with no electricity, hot water, or alarm. We paid for a fully-equipped accommodation, and the conditions we experienced were far from what was promised. Despite multiple requests for a refund, she ignored these concerns and simply advised us to book another hotel. This approach to customer service is unacceptable. In what situation does she consider it normal to have paying customers arrive under such conditions and then offer no immediate remedy or compensation? While we appreciated the gesture of chocolate and wood the following day, this in no way compensates for the ordeal we endured. The wood should have been available from the start to prevent our “horror night” in complete darkness. In South Africa, power outages are common, and it is standard practice for homes to be equipped with generators. The houses in the same street as the accommodation all had generators and electricity. Furthermore, we were only informed about the power outage while we were already 7 hours into our drive, just 3 hours before arrival. If we had been informed at least 24 hours in advance, we would not have proceeded with our stay.
