Die außergewöhnliche Lage. Die Unterkunft selbst war auch richtig toll.

Wie es schon viele vor uns beschrieben haben, müssten die Matratzen mal ausgetauscht werden. Und der Geruch im Schlafzimmer ist wirklich übel. Sehr schade, dass dieses Problem nicht beseitigt wird. Ablageflächen in der Dusche für Shampoo etc. fehlen und auch sonst gibt es kaum Möglichkeit etwas im Bad abzustellen. Im Schlafzimmer gibt es keinen Kleiderschrank, da würden ein Paar Regalbretter sehr helfen.

Location. Unique experience.

Bathroom was not clean. Stayed two nights and they only supplied 2 coffee pods and said if we wanted more we would have to purchase them. Duvets were minimal.

This was a brilliantly unique place to stay. The staff at the museum were helpful when checking in/out, and there was a safe place to park my bike. The water was only meters away, and wandering the grounds after closing was novel and fun.

As many people have commented on: the mattress is very soft and some instructions on how to operate things (TV, stovetop) would be useful.

We loved the location. The house is quite nice, very clean and the decorations are fittingly themed. It felt almost like having a second home because it was so cosy! From the old fashioned radio to the beautiful bookcase, the design aesthetic was on point! Everything we could wish for in a house was there: a comfortable couch, a dinner table, a kitchen with enough dishware and a view of the beach! Amazing! One of the evenings we were there we cancelled our plans just to enjoy the entire fort by ourselves. How often can you say you have a fort to yourself?! It's less of a hotel room and more of a holiday home, which is quite luxurious to us!

The mattress is very uncomfortable. The guests in the guestbook in the home have mentioned this often, but as of the 16th of april 2023, the mattress is still uncomfortable and has a dent in the middle. The rest of the things we were a bit bothered by, were none of the accommodation's fault. There were drag races on the parking lot around 11/12 in the evening on one of the nights, which was quite loud. Lots of bangs outside as people were revving their engines. The linnen in the bedroom smelled of a laundry detergent that I associate with the smell of linnen in an elderly home. The fort, although awesome, was also a bit spooky during the evening, despite some lights being on. (My husband disagrees on the spookyness, though!) Lastly, because it's at the entrance of the museum/fort, people tend to peer inside out of curiosity. Which is understandable, but also a bit strange. None of the reasons above were reasons to not return though. We had a lovely time!

The best location ever. That you are behind the big wooden gate of the Fortress itself, makes it a very special exciting location. And that you are there, while all other visitors of the fortress are gone, makes it a unique lovely experience.

Reception only open from 9:00 to 17:00. They are very responsive via booking.com messenger, but it is not the same. Eg the WIFI password isn't mentioned in the property; there is no manual of the TV (although I never watch TV, but still).
