Terrace Matosinhos House

The most lovely hosts we have ever had! It is a little tardis; you would never expect to have so many amenities hidden behind such an unassuming front door. All that we needed for our stay and loved the little terrace garden especially. Great bakery next door and huge supermarket just behind us. Easy walk to the beach and No 500 bus was a lovely seafront bus journey straight into Porto centre. Highly recommend!

If you are a light sleeper then bring ear plugs or use whitenoise (like we did) in the front room as you have the tram and people walking by. It did not disturb us at all like this.

Recommended accommodation, nice and easy contact with the hosts, the house offers everything you need for a long stay.

The hosts are extremely nice and helpful. We felt very welcomed. It was also very easy to communicate with them before arrival. The apartment is very clean and well stocked and organized. The kitchen had pretty much anything we needed to prepare basic meals. The back garden/patio is wonderful. The location is good and right next to the Metro. A very good grocery store (Continente) is very close.

It is noisy. I would recommend taking ear plugs. My friend had the front bedroom and she said she could hear loud conversations on the street into the wee hours of the morning. I had one of the middle bedrooms, and while the street noise was not as bad, I was woken up each morning at just before 06:00 by bright lights and loud discussions when the cafe next door got deliveries at the side. I am not sure there is much the hosts can do about this so I would just recommend taking ear plugs and/or noise canceling headphones and perhaps a sleep mask if you go in winter.

Great location, walking distance from the beach, right next to the supermarket and public transportation and free parking. Very nice and accommodating owners. The apartment was very cozy, well decorated, well equipped. Air-conditioning, great showers, very clean. Very cozy garden/terrace. Would definitely come back.

the property is beautiful, very well equipped kitchen, the owners clearly care about their guests and provide lots of extras. Very good location perfect for access to shops, restaurants and a pleasant walk to the beach. thank you!

The owners of the house met us in person to hand over the keys and show us the house with absolute kindness. My first impression was how immaculate the house was. Perfectly decorated, spotlessly clean and aromatic. The attention to detail in every room made it feel like a home rather than a rented house. I must commend them on how clean the bed linen, pillows and duvets were. This is something I am quite particular about but I was pleasantly surprised. The kitchen has every utensil and gadget you can possibly think of and more. We even had some spices, Dolce Gusto coffee pods and detergent for the washing and dishwashing machines which both worked excellently. The first thing I do when I stay in a rented house is wash all the cutlery and crockery that I will be using during my stay but this house had everything pristine. Not one grease mark on anything! It was a pleasure opening those cupboards and not having to wash anything. Even the pots and pans are in perfect condition. Bathrooms were in excellent condition and a pleasure to use without being grossed out by any dirt or mould. Great to have air conditioning and heaters. We could watch TV in the lounge and dining room. The floors were immaculate without one spec of dirt, we could walk comfortably without being concerned about dirt which is rare in most places I’ve stayed. The outdoor area we couldn’t use due to the bad weather conditions but I certainly look forward to coming back here. The barbecue was spotless. We stayed as a family and were all more than comfortable with the space offered. The location is magnificent with continente just behind the house , a beautiful coffee shop next door with freshly baked delicacies. Walking distance down to the beach and all nearby shops. Metro just on the doorstep. Norte shopping is just a few minutes ride by car as well as downtown Ribeira in Porto. It’s a beautiful spot and the owners must be proud to own such a gem.

The only downfall is the noise the bakers make next door in the early hours of the morning. I would like to make a suggestion based on my experience. The kitchen could have a trolley to store all the things we bring into the kitchen as the cupboards are all occupied with things and we didn’t have an empty cupboard to put our food stuffs. I would also recommend a key holder by the front door to keep all the keys in one place.
