Old Ladder

Fully equipped house: The kitchen had all necessary tools and cutlery. Spacious layout: Four sleeping rooms accommodating at least eight people. Large communal areas: Huge dining area and a generous deck for relaxing.

Access road quality: About 20 km of gravel road in poor condition with potholes. Expectations vs reality: I knew there would be a long gravel approach, but the road’s condition was worse than expected and made the journey less pleasant.

Communication is very poor and service ask the host Jade.

We were 2 families and had a wonderful time at Old Ladder. The house is perfectly designed with different areas so that it never feels crowded. There are 2 different braai areas on the stoep, so one is always sheltered from the wind. The view is breathtaking, over the sea, bush and a vlei. We enjoyed watching birds right from the stoep with binoculars in our one hand and coffee in the other!

Amazing views and accommodation lay-out. 50m from the beach. There are birds galore in the vlei behind the house , including resident vleiloeries, with a scenic 40 min walk. Snorkeling is 800m walk down the road.

We discovered Oesterbaai - and amazing little known gem on the coast, and The Old Ladder is a very comfortable, well-though-out place to say, with an excellent view and location. Can highly recommend it.

Just be aware of the road to Oesterbaai ... a lot of lurking potholes on the gravel sections, so drive slow.

The cleanliness, comfort, service, and care of the place, and offered many amenities, like towels, kitchen appliances, dishwasher, dishware, and location, is awesome. View of the Indian Ocean on one side of the place stayed and mountains/hilly terrain and greenery on the other side. Available parking, balcony with tables. The beautiful ocean and a beach to walk on. The sound of the ocean at night. Patio doors surrounding Old Ladder which gave a feel of openness in nature, serenity and peaceful. You can see the beautiful sunrise and the sunset. And at night when it is pitch dark, you can see the most beautiful lights of the stars. This was my 3rd visit staying at Old Ladder and it has always been awesome - along with the beautiful owners who care about people, very professional, yet caring about making sure your stay is comfortable and keeping the place well kept.

There was nothing that I didn't like. I was very satisfied.

The accommodation has everything one would need for a self-catering stay. It is very well equipped. The house is spacious with comfortable couches and beds. The wraparound veranda with incredible views! Sea views and beach walks. Fynbos all around. Peaceful village.

The last part of the journey is a 19km dirt road. I have a Fortuner, so we managed okay, but I think smaller/lower cars might struggle.

A wonderfully secluded and beautiful spot! The village is small and charming, and the house is spacious with a huge terrace that nearly wraps around the entire property. It’s just a one-minute walk to a stunning, long beach where sand dunes meet the turquoise ocean. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily return!

Very clean, comfortable, and well equipped holiday home with beautiful views & in close proximity (walking distance)of the sea & beautiful beach. Oyster Bay is a quiet spot for a great escape from crowds of people.

Bathrooms are very small and cramped. TV screen very small esp for distance from couches.
