Dora's Country Cottage

We booked the two bedroom quadruple. The description in Booking is a little odd but the pictures are accurate. It consists of two bedrooms on one side of the hall and two bathrooms on the other. Neither bathroom is an en suite. There is a small sitting room at the bottom of the stairs leading to the bedrooms. After you book you will be sent a message with instructions on how to add on the kitchen if you wish. Note that the restaurants in town have limited hours, especially on Sundays, so we found the kitchen extremely useful. There is a larger living room with a TV that comes with the kitchen. We were able to contact the property manager by phone very easily and he was always super friendly.

I had thought the bathrooms would be en suite, though the listing didn't say that. The kitchen is a little chilly and you can hear guests in the other suites clearly from the kitchen which means they can also hear you.

We were the first guests of the season and the porch has not been swept or leaves cleaned up around the door. So we didn't track the leaves in, we found a broom and swept them up. The porch could use some cleaning up. It is pretty junky and winter weathered.

Patio - probably nice in summer. We arrived after dark in Feb and it was too cold to be outside.

Lots of messages/emails from the accommodation via Booking.com following our booking. But no response from owner to my messages sent via Booking.com. Difficult to find cottage when dark - Google maps didn’t help. Met another couple also trying to find the accommodation. The sister motel we were advised we could go to for more info., was deserted with “no trespassing” signs up. We rang the number provided, to be “told off” because we hadn’t followed the directions correctly. I explained that it was difficult to see a red roof house in the dark. The photos show a kitchen, but advised after booking via email that this would cost an extra $50 a night to use. Needed to drive to the only place open offering food after 7pm on a Saturday night in February - nothing nearby.
