Coghill Cottage

Great location, very clean and tidy, perfect for a small family.

Coghill cottage is beautifully presented and it is clear that the owners have put a huge amount of thought, time and effort into creating a property that is as pretty as a picture. In the bathroom there is a huge claw foot, roll top, bath that is so deep you can submerge yourself. There were four of us staying, two of us had baths and two had showers and there was always plenty of hot water. There were candles in the bathroom, to create a lovely spa type feeling to bathing. The shower was powerful too, which is always a big tick for us. The kitchen is well-equipped, with a big fridge and range-style cooker, we cooked in a few nights and found all the equipment we needed. Lots of glasses for wine, champagne, etc. We used the gas barbeque a couple of times, which was quick and easy to navigate, there was a can of gas provided. It was lovely to sit out in the evenings drinking, chatting, eating and playing cards. On the couple of nights it rained the kitchen dining table was the perfect place for dinner and more card games. The bedrooms are comfy, with lovely comfy beds, big fluffy quilts, blankets and lots of pillows. The flowerbeds around the property are well-tended and make the Cottage hugely appealing from the outside too. The antiques are carefully curated giving the cottage a unique quality and are combined with the mod cons to make this a truly exceptional experience. The owners have clearly put a lot of love and attention into the property. The owners provided us a welcome pack which was lovely, there was coffee, tea, milk, wine and a few other nice little treats. Whitianga is a great little town, with everything you need in this part of NZ, plenty of restaurants, shops, bars, supermarkets, cafe's, access to the attractions of Hot Water Beach, Cathedral Cove are a fairly short drive away and some lovely walks can be accessed via the ferry. We thought this town was the perfect place to stay.

The cottage has no storage for clothes, no wardrobes or drawers. There are a couple of hangers on the back of the bedroom door. We were staying for a week and this was insufficient for our needs. We have informed the owners and they plan to rectify this. The air conditioning is only in the main room, we were visiting in the Summer and the bedrooms were very warm.

Decor was fantastic, bed very comfortable and location was great, couple of minutes walk to restaurants and movies

The cottage was beautiful, a great location with a nice atmosphere. Such a lovely place to stay and very kind and helpful hosts. Cannot recommend it enough! Very nice art.

No room for improvement. Hot water runs out a bit quickly, but it's not a real problem.

Great location, well appointed, loved the styling and enjoyed the private outdoor eating area. Hosts were really responsive and helpful. The addition of wine, beer and cheese was appreciated.

As we stayed during a hot spell we found that the bedrooms were a bit hot for sleeping. Access to a fan would have been helpful.

Such a beautiful cottage and the location was perfect, we could walk everywhere. It was very clean, and the shower was amazing!! Thanks so much, we’ll definitely be back!!
