"A good base and a comfortable house"

The location was very convenient for the beach (had hoped to go swimming but it was rather cold and windy) and for coastal walks - we enjoyed our walk out to the signal station on Old Head. We also enjoyed our meal at The Speckled Door pub nearby. There was plenty of space in the house and it was well provided with kitchen equipment. The beds were comfortable.

We arrived late at night and it was dark, so we had difficulty finding the property. It would be helpful if the sign was by the road, rather than up the drive. Our TomTom couldn't find the postcode - should have used Google maps on my phone! The electric storage heaters in the living room and hall didn't really warm up so, if you were out all day and it wasn't worth lighting the open fire, the living room was rather cool in the mornings and evenings.

Cute little house in a fab location! Right next to the beach and coastal walks, and not too far from Kinsale and even Cork. House is great value for money and a great size for 8 people, deceivingly big!

This didn't affect our stay but just an observation, the house is quite dated so could probably do with an uplift, still has old storage heaters and hot water heater (which wasn't enough for 8 ladies washing their hair!), although I'm not sure whether this is due to regulations. Although this is also probably reflected in great price!
