Private Cottage with Spa and Amazing Lake Views

Nice location. Nice view

Host was terrible. First, listing claimed free bikes and onsite spa and wellness center. Had neither. No onsite restaurant either. Host claimed no one ever asked. Unit was also dirty and rundown. Not like shiny new unit in photos. Faucet loose. Short in kitchen outlet so could not use toaster or teapot. Dead bugs and webs and filth in corners. Dirty dishes in microwave. I emailed owner to inform and he said: "we don't like your kind. Please leave now.". This was at 9 pm on a rainy night just above freezing and we were in a remote setting with no where to go. We stayed but didn't sleep well not knowing if host was totally crazy. This was most expensive stay in NZ and it was only bad stay. If unit maintained and clean and host nice and listing honest would have been nice, but way overpriced and host terrible. Rather than apologizing he attacked us. Rather than saying he was wrong to advertise free onsite bikes he told us to drive 20 minutes to Queenstown, find parking, find a bike shop, and pay to rent there.

The house is so well put together and the owners were so friendly and communicated very well. We loved our stay, what a special spot!

It was very hot at night in the upstairs bedroom and the blinds didn’t work too well so it was very light. Hard with small children
