Casa da Morena by Amazing Madeira

Delightful rooms and nice pool. The welcome was clear and helpful.

Google maps does not show the right location when the adress is specified. The street is correct, no 51 is approximately before rua da Azanhiga.

Everything was perfect, we much appreciated that the property was fully equipped, felt like home, spacious, super clean, great welcome, easy to reach if questions or issues, sure there was the construction yard next to the house but we were advised prior to arrival, and was not that disturbing, workers were respectful. Would come back anytime, highly recommendable, perfect stay would buy it for my happy place.

Nothing was absolutely perfect.

Attention to some details, such as having sheets on our infant's bed, fresh fruit on the kitchen, and regional passion fruit candies to sweeten our stay. The house highlights are the magnificent view over the ocean and the nice pool.

Too close to the airport, meaning you hear too often the airplanes landing and taking off (you end up getting used to it). The house is on a very steep street, and you need to be extra careful driving the car to get in and out. Having said that, this is very much common in Madeira.

The villa is beautiful. The space you have and the way In which the property is laid out makes this a very visually appealing place. The Kitchen was a showpiece of the property and having a private swimming pool is what’s needed when it’s hot on the Island. The downstairs bathroom is also beautifully laid out. Fantastically priced as well for what the property offers and visit to Funchal is a must (15-20 minute taxi journey)

Unfortunately the agency/owners we conversed with had really poor communication skills. Something that was easily solvable via messaging us on booking.com almost lead to a big problem. The mattress in the main bedroom is very hard which led to sleepless nights. The Sofa wasn’t very comfortable to sit on. Ceiling Fans would be a recommendation for most of the rooms and eye level lighting for the kitchen.

We as a family of 4 had a wonderful 2 week stay at Casa da Morena. There was great communications with the management team who were very responsive when I had a question. The accommodation is very clean and roomy and the house was ideal for us. There are two shower rooms, a huge kitchen with great facilities and I liked that the kitchen overlooked the pool, so I could keep an eye on the kids if I was indoors. We all enjoyed the pool, especially on hot days and outside areas have sea and town views, yet are very private and not overlooked. We had no problems with the wifi and both TV's were smart TV's. Santa Cruz is traditional and pretty with plenty of restaurants and a play park for the kids and a few small supermarkets. The highlight of the holiday for the kids was the water park which we walked to a couple of times. It is easy to catch a bus to Funchal which we visited a few times. We got the cable car in Funchal one day and another day we took a boat trip. We also had a full day jeep safari along the West coast which was interesting as we didn't hire a car so it was a good opportunity to see more of the Island and stop at other villages.

As others have mentioned the property is on a very steep hill but we were aware of that when we booked and we are fit and able. Each time we walked it it got easier! If we had heavy shopping we took a cab from Santa Cruz which cost 5 euros and the hill wouldn't put me off booking again.

Very well equipped holiday house with fully functional kitchen. Swimming pool is small and with salted water but functional - water is unfortunately quite cold.

Please bear in mind that the house is located at a very steep road (as everything on Madera) so you need to have a good car and very good driving skills. Alternatively you can be a mountain climber. Please remember that some of supplies are only for 1 day what is not reflected in description (e.g. toilet paper) so better buy it on a first day before climbing 😊. Also late check out unfortunately was not possible.
