Clockhouse Cottage

The sea is really close to the house. The house itself was comfortable, I enjoyed sleeping in attic. Very impressive book collection there. There are places to eat quite near and the shop for food as well. If travelling with friends, keep in mind that there is a one door to both shower and sauna room (of course sauna has additional one) - I did wonder how it is going to be after reading comment about it (in other words - it’a manageable even with friends).

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful old house! The host was incredibly kind and welcoming—it was such a treat to hear about the history of the house and the surrounding area. The house itself has been thoughtfully modernised with lots of warm wood details and everything was spotlessly clean. The sauna was an absolute highlight—so relaxing! The location is also perfect: just a short walk to the beach for a gorgeous sunset, and close to the train station, which made getting to Riga super easy. Highly recommend!

The indoor sauna, the tranquility and the outside terrace seating were the best features of this property.

Firstly, the booking.com site shows pictures of both rentals- the Cottage and the Garage- on the same site. This is confusing. We were not able to differentiate which unit had what which led to disappointment for us. The bed was not particularly comfortable and pillow too thin or too thick; tap water was quite smelly (in spite of owner’s recognition two years ago in “comments” that filtration was needed; no toilet paper holder in the very tiny bathroom (accessible through the kitchen; washing machine disfunctional because cupboard door blocked the soap dispenser unit; minimal kitchen equipment (4 each of utensils, no brush or cloth to wash dishes, no paper towels or scissors); no privacy screen on the shower unit. What to do if travelling with family? Lock on front door was very finicky- had to use brute force to lock or unlock. Backdoor was stuck and opened only using force. These problems could be life threatening in event of fire. No bedside lamps and a pot light in bedroom was dangling down. No comfortable chairs. The only place to sit was on the bed or 4 small hard stools in the cramped kitchen area Because we were here during good weather we made good use of the private outdoor seating area.

This is one of the best-renovated apartments we've ever stayed in. The apartment is created from a garage with a big open space with the areas separated by half walls. The apartment is huge with a private parking spot. There is a sauna, a shower room and an amazing patio with also a hot tub. The host is super kind and available.

We would love to stay more days.

The house has absolutely everything you need for a comfortable stay. The interior design is magnificent. The sauna and recreation area facing the yard deserve special mention. The owner is a very friendly and welcoming man.
