Besford Square, Shrewsbury Town

Location was great, 5/10 minute easy walk into the heart of Shrewsbury and the finishes to the property were all modern, good for a couple.

Parking was tight to get in and out of. Half of the drawers in the bedroom were broken and unusable but plenty of other storage. There was no bin at the property which was surprising for a self-catering accommodation. Shower temperature wouldn’t regulate as was either really hot or freezing.

Good location, warm when we worked out the heating and well equipped.

The stairs! Incredibly steep - more like a carpeted ladder than a staircase - and a creaky bed which to be fair was comfortable. If we hadn’t managed to get into the parking space I have no idea where we would have parked - all nearby roads were fully parked while we were there. A microwave would have been really useful in a holiday property - the oven had never been cleaned by the look of it.

The area is very peaceful and excellent to come back to after a long day at the Shrewsbury Folk Festival.

The taxi driver found it difficult to find Besford Square from the train station, even with using Satnav. He had to ask a few people the directions. The sign for Besford Square was not clear, but this unfortunately, is a Council matter. Because it is an old cottage, we would just warn people to be aware of the steep, narrow stairs and to be careful when going up and down the stairs.
