Pengarreg Fawr

Good sized property, close to Aberystwyth. Plenty of room for us all. Large table and hot tub were ideal for big group.

Had no communication from the owner before arrival. Turned up to find a lockbox, which we didn't have a code for. Lady on th phone was thankfully helpful and managed to find the code for us. The hot tub was very dirty when we first arrived, and nothing provided so we could give it a quick clean ourselves. Had to keep it running for a few hours before it seemed clean enough to use. The dishwasher was full when we arrived. It was completely packed so the dishes in it hadn't cleaned properly. There weren't any dishwasher tablets either so we couldn't put it on again, so we just had to leave them where they were.

The property was large and tidy, with a few bedrooms. We had enough room to accommodate 12 people and large communal space. Bathrooms were also clean. The hot tub was ready for our arrival and water was hot. The property also had a gas BBQ.

We tried contacting the hosts weeks in advance to ensure that we would get the big farm house, they did not respond to written messages, however responded to a phone call and confirmed the reservation. The hosts contacted us last minute the night before the trip and said that the previous occupiers had decided to stay for longer, so we could not have the large farm house for 12 people we booked originally and our hosts could provide us with alternative accomodation of 2 smaller neighboring cottages in the same location. This made me feel very nervous as the group leader, but we agreed and went ahead with it. The two cottages were literally next door to each other fitted to the same standard and also the was a door connecting the gardens, therefore we did not feel disconnected as a group. Overall we have had a very pleasant experience, the accomodation did not let us down, we had a good time.

Everyone was happy with the accommodation. The only difficulty was getting to the location, but that is Google Maps problem.

Lack of big pots and pans for cooking.

There was a storm on the date of my stay, we weren't aware of it as we have been travelling from the midlands the host did not cancel or notify us about major floods, fallen trees and a power cut at the property. When we got there we found the property inaccessible due to a tree blocking the entrance and no power at the building. When we called the host they have told us we can reschedule the visit however they have not responded to my email. Very disappointed £500 out of pocket

The property next door kept us up till 6 o’clock in the morning and distributed the children
