Villa Chiara

Salvatore met us at the nearby gas station and took us to the house. Communication prior to arrival was perfect. We knew exactly what we were supposed to do. The house is situated just outside of Montallegro in the countryside. A perfect location to unwind and relax. It was very quiet. The kitchen was well equipped. We cooked one full meal there and were very happy with the outfitting of the kitchen. It had everything we needed. The bedrooms were comfortable and the whole house was great and decorated in a very cute way, which we loved. The outdoor areas were also really comfortable and well equipped. Even though it was early March, we were able to eat on the terrace. We went to Agrigento twice (only 30 minutes away by car) and to the beach of Bovo Marina, only 10 minutes. Fabiola gave us a lot of recommendations which unfortunately we didn't have enough time to try them all. We had a wonderful time! Thank you!

We loved how private, quiet and secluded the property was. After a busy 10 days of driving around Sicily, it was wonderful to have a place to come home to in the evenings, cook dinner for ourselves and eat while watching the sun set.

Absolutely nothing!

Very friendly hosts who came over to hand over the key and show us around. House with a view over the sea from the living room and balcony in the front, view over the valley from the covered terras in the back. Host showed us his traditional garden with pride: olive, almond, nectarine, lemon and many other trees and vegetable garden which he works daily. Lots of flowers around the terras (in May), also in the pots. House is cool inside and rather dark with very bright lamps. Traditionally decorated it gives you the "live like a local - feel". We loved the gekko who lives on the outside walls.

For our taste the beds could have had toppers on the mattresses. We could feel the springs. Some gentler lamp light inside would make the house also cosy in the evening.

Truthfully the accommodations need some TLC. The beds and pillows need to be upgraded. The kitchen is equipped with what you need. The coffee maker is a special kind that you have to go into town to buy pods for as none are supplied. However, we lived off the land for the days we were there. We had almonds from the trees, tomatoes, zucchini, hot peppers, and even eggs from the chickens. We were given a bottle of homemade wine as well which was very generous. The hosts are simply amazing.

I hate to point out the negative because we already miss the stray animals that came to hang out with us while we were there. We loved the location and the views. The price for this home is amazing. If you are looking for five star luxury this is not the place. For us though, we bought a day pass at Adler resort which was divine luxury and then came back to this home where we watched the sunset with two cats and two stray dogs that were our friends while there. We ate bbq on the outdoor fire and fresh pasta with the tomatoes grown there. It was a highlight of our month in Sicily.

We are so happy we chose this place to stay, this house in the mountains made us want to live in Sicily. Mountain views, birdsong, beautiful nature all around, no traffic noise, privacy. During the rain, we lit a fire in the fireplace and enjoyed ourselves in the room. The family was caring and helpful. They provided their own eggs and their own wine, which was delicious. There was also everything needed to cook in the kitchen, and the children had plenty of activities outside. They had thought of so many details and thanks to that our stay there was one of the most beautiful and we will carry the positive feeling there with us for many years to come.

We didn't like that we were only there for one night.

Nice owners, spacey living room, terraces arround whole house. Nice view to country side and sunsets over the sea. Spacey garden around the house and grill outside. Owners wine and lemons were nice.

Some problems with stray dogs and cats. Boiler for hot water was small for 5 people. Make shower itinerary ;-).

This is a wonderful place and wonderful host. The location is secluded but close to everything you need in a 5 min drive. We use the location as a base to explore much of the soother part of the island.
