"It was exactly what we needed!"

10.0

Ngala's Rest is perfect! I can't complain about a thing... the open plan concept for the lounge, kitchen is dining is beautifully laid out and furnished. We also loved the fact that everyone could retire to their own rooms and then gather again to chill out and eat. We had the best time as a family and will hopefully return (without the kids this time). We also enjoyed the game drive and got to see a leopard! The children had a great time at the swimming pool and play area. Eric is an awesome host...very responsive, helpful and patient. Thank you for trusting us with your place.

Nothing at all :-)

"A real treasure deep in the African bush"

9.0

Eric was a terrific host patiently answering all of our numerous queries, as well as organising our game drives. Ivy the housekeeper was excellent, even neatly putting away the kids’ clothes that had been left in a mess. Ngalas Rest is an outstanding property in the heart of the bush bordering KNP. The tranquility of the location is second to none. Bear in mind the rooms do not interconnect so may be issue if visiting with younger children. You can expect some growling and grunting noises after dark which we found thrilling once behind locked doors but disconcerting when walking (never run!) from the common area to bedrooms or between rooms, despite the fact that it’s merely a few seconds’ trek… Nonetheless the place is a true gem overall. Don’t miss a visit (or two in our case…) to River Lodge garden overlooking the main KNP, less than a ten minute walk, where there are panoramic views of the Crocodile River; see how many hippos and crocs you can spot, besides for anything else that cares to amble down to the river bank. The views are a scene straight out of National Geographic (albeit without David Attenborough’s commentary in the background…)

Perhaps a couple of basic essentials in the kitchen such as tea, coffee, sugar etc for those who may have forgotten to bring along their own (as in our case). There is a small shop nearby so not end of the world but would be helpful.
