Turning Tides Holiday Cottage

Simon, the host, was very friendly, attentive, and helpful. The woodburner with wood provided was excellent. Smart television with Netflix and Prime available. The bedrooms looked cosy, and my daughter loved her bedroom door that could be opened in two halves. Works excellent as a stairgate, too. Sofa and chair were comfortable. The dining table was clever for the small space. Nice to have some bits in the cupboard like coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cooking oil, salt and pepper. The back garden is hidden behind the outbuilding. They call it a secret garden. It's very big and you can hear the waves from the sea rolling in. Location was great, just off the beach!

I suggest changing the protective mattress moltons, as the ones used have a plastic layer, which causes you to get sweaty as body warmth can not go out. We didn't feel the underfloor heating in the bathroom, but maybe this was because it was around zero outside. We felt the kitchen could do with a lick of paint to freshen it up, and the taps at the bathroom sink were too small to use easily. The shower temperature was unstable. The host will look into this, so that should be sorted for the next guest to arrive.

Sunrise on the cliff was amazing.

The location of this cottage was our favourite thing! Sitting in the front garden listening to the sea which is just across the road. So close to the beach that we enjoyed watching the sun come up one morning, which I highly recommend! The cottage is very well equipped even with a very kind welcome bottle of wine. Simon was fantastic and very easy to communicate with. The surrounding area is extremely peaceful and a perfect place to unwind and switch off. However there is so much to do if you’re looking for a good balance. The nearby bakery is delicious and the two shops are extremely handy!

Only two small details to mention here, there was no bin in the kitchen ! Having to hang a bag from a door handle is not ideal, especially with a dog with a good nose. Even just a little one under the kitchen window would be useful. Also the cottage is so well equipped but it didn’t leave any storage space for our own things. For example we did a food shop to enjoy cooking meals and it was tricky to find cupboard space!

We were very lucky with the weather but still little bit cold this time of year but will definitely return in the summer months
