Providence Cottage

Nicely decorated and furnished. Extremely well equipped kitchen, host thoughtfully left milk and biscuits. Nice big modern bathroom.

Seating in lounge not that comfortable. No bath in bathroom. Spiral staircase to second floor tricky to navigate. Downstairs toilet squashed in.

Amazingly located slap bang in the middle of the town. A quiet a serene place with stylish decor and so clean!

Providence Cottage was great for us for four nights in the first week of Aug 2023 when the weather wasn't brilliant. It was spotlessly clean and in the kitchen I found all I needed for cooking purposes. The bed was very comfortable and as there were only two of us I enjoyed having the other double room as a dressing room. The bathroom was spacious with a heated towel rail. We were lucky and could usually park very close to the house.

My husband would have liked a more comfortable sofa. I would have liked a washing machine. The details don't list one but if one were staying there for a week or more a trip to the launderette wouldn't be ideal. I did a tiny amount of hand washing to get by. Also, it should be made clear, that there is no outside area at all. This wasn't a problem as the weather wasn't conducive to sitting out but just so you're aware. I also should say that the house gets very very warm even in a wet summer and some of the windows cannot be opened and they are painted shut. What makes it feel even hotter is that downstairs you can't readily see out as the bottom half of the sash windows are frosted.

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage for four days. Ian and Louise have ensured that the cottage has everything you need, is cosy, and very comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the extra sitting area on the top floor (attic) with views of the castle and tollbooth.

Providence Cottage has a great location - street side and quiet and we really enjoyed our time there. It doesn't have any outside space. Not an issue in Autumn / Winter but in Summer, it could be.

Everything. A beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting. It is an exceptionally comfortable place to stay, with everything you could wish for to make a great holiday. The owners have obviously taken great care to make it such a welcoming place to stay.
