"Not what I would call a vacation!"

3.0

The only thing about the stay that kept us from leaving and finding another place to stay was the beach.

One of the Worst Stays I’ve Ever Had – A Serious Health and Safety Concern I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent stay at Emerald Isle, Unit 104, was so appalling that I feel obligated to warn others. From the moment we arrived, the property was in shocking disrepair. Yellow caution tape was wrapped around areas of the complex, the back patio was crumbling, and construction materials were scattered everywhere. The pool was closed—not that you’d want to swim in it anyway. It was a murky swamp green, swarming with bugs. Truly unsafe and unhygienic. None of these issues were disclosed in advance. The listing photos bore no resemblance to the reality we encountered. It felt like we were misled right from the start. Inside the unit, things only got worse. On our first night, the glass shower doors came off completely—nearly injuring me—and clearly hadn’t been installed or inspected properly. I couldn’t let my kids near that bathroom. The unit itself was filthy, with old food under the furniture and a general sense of neglect throughout. To top it off, one elevator reeked of sewage. We heard water rushing down the shaft, and later saw emergency plumbers on-site. Rather than fix the issue, someone tried masking the smell with car deodorizers stuffed into the light fixtures… which made it even worse. This property was unsafe, unclean, and misrepresented. I strongly advise others to think twice before booking here until major improvements are made.

"Still loved every minute"

Location was PERFECT! The view was excellent. The condo could have used a little more attention. We had a wonderful time. We will be back.

The shower in the master bedroom was stopped up. The floor was dirty however it's hard to keep it clean with all the sand. One key to get inside the gate to get to pool and ocean.
