Scott Base - National Park Holiday Home

Great location

Bachcare support was useless. We arrived between 3-4pm and I rang them immediately to say there were not enough towels for 6 guests and there was no coffee. I had rung the week before SPECIFICALLY asking about tea, coffee and sugar to see if we needed to bring any. I was told by Bachcare that there would be a "welcome supply" of those items in the bach. They advised they would call me back - they didn't; I rang again and was told again they would call me back. Nothing and then a text after 9pm to say someone was on their way to deliver towels and coffee. At this point we had all gone to bed and I text back to say STOP that person as we did not want to be disturbed. That person arrived and woke everyone up some time later. So DO NOT rely on your "super Kiwi hosts of Bachcare" to look after you, they don't and their communication is appalling. There was also no information in the bach about what to do with rubbish etc despite a tiny red folder from Bachcare with the Wifi code in and a note saying check the information left in the bach about rubbish etc (no info left anywhere! When I got home after our 2 night stay I found an email from Bachcare which (at about page 10, lucky I read that far after 10 pages of repeated "notes") did give info about when you leave the bach - too late by then. I don't look at emails when I am away There were not enough large pots/pans for a party of 6 and all the pans needed a good clean before we used them The bunk beds were not made up and we needed them for 6 non related friends who did not wish to share a bed.

Functional, clean and comfortable. Close to store and restaurants and only a short drive to the walking trails.

Fry Pan was unusable as Teflon coating scratched and peeling, so no pancakes. Whisk finish was breaking down and left metal flakes in cream. Ended up buying canned whipped cream and a new fry pan at local service station

Good location, quiet and plenty of parking.

Instructions for lockbox instructions were incorrect, so a bit tricky to find in the dark.

Spacious and warm. Bed options gave us all we needed

A door handle came off in my hand and a drawer handle was questionable.

Our whole stay at scott base was awesome, good communication though the booking process and leading up to our check in it was very easy. Thank you soo much we will be back next year.

Location to the hiking trails was only about 12 minutes away. Small Four Square located at gas station had good options for food supplies and essentials.

Not a lot of information related to the property for cleaning or internet or things to do in the area etc. might have been nice to have a welcome pack.

Using a lockbox made it easy to arrive whenever we wanted, and was easy as we were arriving at different times. It was good having the toilet and shower separate when staying in a larger group.

We had trouble finding the wifi, it was hidden away in a bedroom so it would have been easier if the password was in the information booklet as we all used data instead when we couldn’t find the hub.
