Il Moraiolo - Idromassaggio & Sauna con vista!

Amazing Tuscan getaway – we’ll be back for sure! We spent a week in this incredible house in Loro Ciuffenna with 8 friends, and it was pure bliss. The location is perfect – just 50 minutes from Florence, yet completely peaceful. The real dolce vita. The house itself is stunning, with breathtaking views over the Tuscan hills and nearby villages. The pool is huge, and there are plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, and shared spaces for a large group to enjoy comfortably. The hosts – Michaele and Cinzia – are absolutely wonderful. So kind, welcoming, and easy to communicate with via WhatsApp. Always responsive and helpful. We even spent an evening with them tasting amazing Tuscan specialties – a true highlight of our trip. Special shoutout to Cinzia’s tiramisu – unforgettable! Also, we fell in love with the animals: Squirel the horse, and their two adorable dogs, Tobia and Pepigna. This place felt like home from day one. We’ll definitely come back as soon as we can!

Cinzia and her family were the best hosts! They were very accommodating, Michele her husband brought us their home grown olive oil to try and their son Francesco brought us the wine he makes. Both were wonderful, we bought a bottle home! The property was beautiful, would have loved to be there in summer but the fireplace topped the cake in winter. Very enjoyable and relaxing stay for a family of 6!

from the many offers there were in Umbria and Tuscany, this one was probably the best of all. the location is as great as the pictures show. the house is an authentic Tuscan family home of a huge size. the family is beyond nice. very clean and fully equipped, safe and functional. very good beds. you get a lot of rooms and space for this price. if you arrive with a group of 8 to 10 the house is cheaper than the worst youth hostel…. we did not use the pool (closed for the cold season) whirlpool or infrared sauna so cannot judge these.

arriving at night for the first time is a challenge as it takes very steep small mountain roads. the navigation might send you too far so look out for the sign but the family is ready to guide you there from the village below. a second comment - that applies to nearly all Tuscan countryside houses - is that a fully authentic decoration also means a lack of comfortable (lounge) seating (inside) apart from the lounge chairs around the pool. this is the only thing we would improve.

Cinzia and her family were extremely kind hosts and available for all our questions and requests. The property is a wonderful farmhouse on the mountains just outside of Loro Ciuffenna (less than 2km): the landscape is breathtaking and the accommodation has been wonderfully renovated making sure that it could still maintain its authenticity and charm. First floor: 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (one with an astonishing clawfoot tub and the other with a shower). Groundfloor: a huge dining area with chimney, a separate toilet and an open shower, a colorful and extremely functional kitchen offering all the necessary equipment and tools you may need, a living room with a chimney and another bedroom. On the lower floor: a separate apartment with a kitchenette and living room with a sofa bed, a separate bedroom and a bathroom with shower. My family and I spent the Christmas holidays at il Moraiolo and we could not have expected anything more beautiful.

However, we encountered a few hiccups along the way, especially at the beginning. Although we booked the property well in advance and ensured the hosts knew about the presence of 2 children and a newborn, the house was really cold when we got there (as cold as 14 degrees). We were not able to use the jacuzzi over the first few days as it wasn't ready to be used until only a few days after our arrival. And the sauna could only be used free of charge until 5pm, later on, a fee of 15 euros/ hour would apply. Also, in order to warm up the house faster, the hosts lighted both fireplaces (which was a really nice gesture and idea) but the ventilation system of the chimneys didn't work properly, so we ended up with lots of smoke in the rooms and sadly decided not to light them anymore. Lastly, beware of the last few meters of dirt road that leads up to the property, so better to reach it with sunlight.

We had a lovely 4 night stay at the beginning of October. The house is lovely and the hosts were so friendly and helpful. We were blessed with great weather so were able to use the pool and hot tub. Would definitely visit again.
