Casa do Castanheiro - Eido do Pomar

Beautiful newly renovated traditional stone house. Really great place to stay with incredible views, surrounded by animals and facilitated by a very kind host.

This is a magical mountain house, with fantastic views across the valley, it's been immaculately converted, into a beautiful house, but still keeping all the wonderful character of the original house. There are several stone maze stores the area is so famous for, right next to the house. We loved watching the goats, sheep & cows being taken out each morning to the fields & then back into the sheds at night. The locals were super friendly. Wonderful walks straight out into the mountains from the house.

What a special location! You feel like you have travelled back in time to the quaintest of villages in the middle of nowhere (in the best way!) and yet you are so close to a major town with grocery shopping and restaurants and to the National Park! Nuno is a fantastic host, with clear communication and fast response time. He turned the heat on for us and left lots of information for things to do. The house is a delight and we used the kitchen on each of our three days for breakfast and dinner and didn't want for anything. There was plenty of hot water (thank you, Nuno, for quickly coming out to help!) and the bed and bedding are very comfortable, as was the heating. And the neighbors and their animals (we had cows, sheep, goats and dogs) are so friendly! Just a magical stay!

I recently stayed at a charming rental converted house in Parades do Vale, and it exceeded my expectations. The stone walls and stylish furnishing created a cozy ambiance. The highlight was the stunning valley view. Close to a beautiful trail in the natural reserve, it's a perfect retreat for nature lovers. Highly recommended!
