Although there were trulli houses attached to our “room”, we didn’t stay in a trulli! I felt cheated.

Masseria Sant'Elia was simply a lovely place to stay. Positioned in the centre of the Itria Valley's golden triangle of Locorotondo, Alberobello and Martina Franca, it was the perfect location for exploring this area. The staff spoke little English but this didn't matter. They were extremely friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was, without doubt, the best we have had so far in Italy The grounds are delightful with views over the valley and lots of olive trees dotted around . We would liked to have stayed longer as it was so pleasant and peaceful.

Nothing

We spent three nights at Sant Elia during late October. It was off season, but the property and the experience were still wonderful. The history of the property is so interesting; and the grounds are beautifully kept. Trullis everywhere lend a magical air to everything around. Breakfast was a special treat, with homemade goodies and fresh coffee, eggs and fruit. We walked into Locorotondo one day, which was one of my favorite days of our two month expedition in Europe. Arbobello was a quick drive down the beautiful country roads, and well worth exploring.

Since the host didn't speak much English, and we didn't speak much Italian, it would've been great to have some printed material to provide hints on the area and the property itself. But everyone was so helpful and kind - it's hardly a complaint worth making.
