Dungallan Country House

A highlight of our Scottish road trip, lovely accommodation with larger than life staff. Set in a super location just far enough out of Oban to be quiet, but close enough should you wish to amble in. We chose to eat in the restaurant and laze in the comfortable chairs in the bar area having a whisky lesson from our jovial bartender. The accommodation is beautifully presented both inside and out (window frames need a bit of attention) and looked glorious in the sunshine overlooking the water with outdoor chairs available to soak up the Scottish sunshine. A fantastic breakfast was had to set us up for the day.

We chose to eat in the restaurant which we felt was a little pricey for what we got, yes mine was a nice bit of beef, but still a little pricey and together with the accommodation cost, resulted in a expensive nights stay. No blue cheese on the cheeseboard!

Michelle and her team were the best part of the experience overall. They exuded passion and care in all that they do. We had dinner twice in the restaurant and breakfast every morning. The food and service was fantastic. We learned more about whiskey talking to the staff than on our tours. Sam went out of his way to write directions for us. The picture perfect location is a 10 minute walk from the center of Oban. Saying the room we stayed in was comfortable is an understatement. The cookies and fudge replenished every day is a lovely touch.

There was absolutely nothing not to like.

Stunning views over Oban from the dining room and lounge bar windows. Breakfast was buffet style for cereals/yoghurt and more, then a good choice of cooked breakfast options. Full Scottish breakfast - great. We dined in one night of our 2 night stay and although menu choice was limited (a good point I think) everything we ate was beautifully presented, delicious and good value for money. Our room was small but perfectly formed with a comfortable bed, walk in wardrobe and a generous shower in the ensuite. All spotlessly clean. Staff friendly and welcoming and had a good knowledge of the local area, places to visit and whiskey!

Very nice place to stay, the house is comfortable, near the town center but very quite. The breakfast was awesome

All things. The staff was brilliant and the Breakfast excellent.
