Beautiful surroundings, great hosts who spoil you with yummy local products, good beds, a cozy fireplace... very peaceful and wonderful!

When it is a bit colder and grayish and wet outside, it seems as if the shower does not provide hot water for longer than 5 minutes, especially in the evening. We didn't mind this.

Location was awesome, my brother in law described it as pastoral. Facilities were all there. Very friendly host which spoke english. Very quiet at some dead-end road, close to Marvao castle, which is worth a trip. The owner bought a little bag of goodies every morning.

The sousterrain was a bit low for me, as I am 2 mtrs tall, the cows and sheep had bells that went on as soon as they started munching, No washing machine, no Wifi, but honestly, who needs these. Sometimes we had the feeling the owner was a bit too much present. But I think that was not to check, but more to be of assistance.

The location was beautiful. Our hosts were very generous and kind.

The hosts were exceptional! We arrived on an unlucky day with a heavy storm, but Mario and Natalia made sure we were prepared with homemade food and wine, and various other items. They came over before we arrived to set up a fire for us, and Mario came over the next day during the heavy rain to give us some cakes. On the day of departure, they showed us some farm activities such as olive picking! Mario and Natalia are genuine people who are proud of their place and are happy to share it with their guests!!

Their place is a cottage so some aspects need some getting used to. For example, knowing how to start a fire comes in handy on cold days. They do have space heaters so that helped as well. The floors are tiles so having flip flops on cold days is also super handy. We didn't mind at all and actually quite enjoyed our quaint stay there, and these aspects made it a unique experience for us.

The extras provided (cake, bread, vegetables from their land, wine and local produce). The hosts were very kind and friendly.

Hosts that care and show the most amazing hospitality we've experienced so far in Portugal. Spending time with us to make sure we have a fantastic experience. Tranquil and beautiful setting. Quality kitchen facilities with all you need. We had a family of 4 with 2 young children and it was perfect for unwinding after some busy days in the city. Surrounding Marvao and Castello de Vije well worth a look. Can't recommend this enough especially for families. Kids loved the pool, the animals and the space!

That we didn't stay longer

We wish we could have stayed longer! Natalia & Mario are the sweetest hosts and gave us such a warm welcome to their beautiful home! We very much regretted that we hadn’t booked a longer stay. The attention to detail and coziness of the house, the peacefulness and privacy of the garden, the smell of cut grass, trees and roses offer such rest and comfort. The location is perfect for exploring the villages of the area (Marvao, Castell do Vide, Portalegre..) or to make some of the many nature walks. The breakfast is just amazing: every morning they bring fresh bread that is left at the door, together with the homemade jam, sausages, free range eggs…the experience has been marvellous and we will return for another bit of heaven.
