Casas da Peneda - Geres

Location is amazing, close to the river but not noisy if windows are closed. Nice rustic feel. Hammock in living room was a big hit with the kids. Swimming pool very nice plus.

Be warned: no grocery store for km (although the owners warned us in advance) and very tricky to park a car close by.

Location, friendliness of staff, well-equipped kitchen, excellent value for money

despite being clean, in the bedrooms, the wood ceiling were kind of peeling off, there was a lot of small wood crumbs falling into our beds.

Pet friendly accomodation was our key factor, also this feel of entire and fully equipped rural house gave a sense of how people live in this area. We got really hooked up by the chimney and setting up the fireplace. It's very remote from everything surrounded by the mountains. There is a bakery in the nearby Rouças village which is the only place where it's possible to buy bread. Everything else needs to purchased before coming here.

The street is very narrow and only one parking spot was available by the refuge nearby and that was during the low season in the spring. It's not a circumstance that can be changed but visitors need to be aware of it.
