"A 5 star haven of welcome and rest"

10.0

Whilst walking the Camino Frances in May 2019 I found this Albergue in my Michelin guide book. I phoned and was greeted by the warm friendly voice of Mar. In conversation Mar offered to pick me up from Casanova a further 5k on from my lunch stop at Pala del Rais, as I wanted to go as far as I could on foot. As promised Mar came to pick me up, greeting me with a lovely smile and we drove about 1kilometre to the Albergue. (Mar dropped me off at the pick up point the following morning). This place, a lovely stone building is set in woodland and is a haven of peace and tranquility. Mar’s Husband Carlos came out to welcome me too. I felt like I was a friend they had not seen for a while. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the shower hot. The dinner and breakfast were fantastic. Both Mar and Carlos took time after dinner to chat with guests. I highly recommend this Albergue, it is a perfect place of welcome and rest. Mar and Carlos were the perfect hosts. ray mooney

"Gourmet meal and amazing hospitality "

10.0

We stayed here 1 night while walking the camino. It is located in Casanova and may also be called Albergue Turistico a Bolboreta. The husband and wife owners are amazing! They are incredibly helpful. They pick you up on the Camino road or at the Municipal Albergue (as it happened for us), and drop you off back on the camino road in the morning. They offer a spectacular meal which is a wonderful change from the pilgrim meals on the Camino. It included 3 appetizers, salmon, chicken, cooked vegetables, dessert, bread, red wine, water. Everything was homemade by the owners who cook for up to 20 people each night. It was the best dinner we had in 33 days on the Camino. There are bunks and private rooms. The beds are comfortable, hot showers. Free wifi. Nice outside area. There is a space to hand wash laundry and a clothesline that goes on forever. I highly recommend this albergue

"Lovely albergue ran by very friendly couple"

10.0

After walking for 30 km we were trying to find an albergue for the night. But everything was either full or close. So we decided to call casa Sabella. Great decision that was! True - it is of the bitten track but the lovely English speaking lady offered us a lift. The albergue is spacious and clean. Big garden, beautiful views, rural tranquillity. We stayed in a room with two comfortable bunk beds and a big bathroom. We had a joint pilgrim meal - what a treat! The best meal on the Camino - plenty of vegetables (and meat/fish) and wine beautifully presented by generous hosts who get our ot their way to make your stay very comfortable. After a comfortable night we were served a great continental breakfast with plenty of coffee, juice and fruit. Well fuelled we were dropped off back onto the Camino to carry on our walk. It was a great evening and such pleasure to meet such genuine and friendly couple.

"Wonderful place for rejuvenation on the Camino!"

10.0

I tended to stay in smaller towns along the Camino to avoid crowds. This place was off the path but they pick up pilgrims from the nearby bar. It was a wonderful oasis. The family who runs it are so kind and nice, the room I had was extremely comfortable and spacious with nice amenities, and the food was exceptional. I had the best meal I had had in days. This is definitely worth stopping at. The next morning it was just a short walk back to the Camino, went the proprietors showed you the way. I highly recommend!

"Quaint and Rustic"

6.0

We stayed in this hotel for one night during our “Camino.” It was way off the beaten path and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless you have a driver to take you there after the walk (although I think they may pick you up from the Camino). If you are walking then staying here adds another 2-3km to your walk in total. It is past the town of Palas do Reí. The hotel is rustic and the owners are super nice and friendly. The rooms are decent sized although the bathrooms are small. Everything was very clean. Wi-Fi is free and works okay. Towels are very thin. Amenities include 2 small slivers of soap and some shampoo in an envelope. The steam heaters are turned on at night by the owners but they do not generate much heat. The worst part of the room was the one extremely long pillow we were provided to share. Sharing one long pillow is awkward and we would much prefer the standard size individual pillows. Parking is free and breakfast is included. Breakfast was not that good. We were served White Texas toast, watery OJ from concentrate, coffee, small sweet muffins and 2 small pieces of cake. This was the first place during our trip that did not serve fresh squeezed OJ and the Galician bread.

"West of downtown Palas de Rei by about 4 miles, in the forest. Quiet, large room, bath. On way to Melide. "

8.0

This albergue is huge but mostly uninhabited. It was originally built in the 14-15 centuries and refurbished about 29 years ago. We were the only guests last night and the matron was friendly and helpful with all of our needs. She made us dinner and left breakfast out for us this morning. It was a little off the Camino and a little hard to find without GPS assistance. However, it is closer to our destination Melide. Overall it is a nice stay, quiet environment and beautiful forested settling.
