Roupas de cama e de casa de banho poderiam ser melhores, algumas c cheiro de bolor. Travesseiro ruim. Pequeno almoço básico demais. Salvou a avaliação o suco de laranja.

Friendly and helpful communication, great breakfast, perfect location, amazing views, beautiful and comfortable rooms with all amenities.

The hotel is well located in the centre of the village. There are some street parking spaces very close, and others about 150 metres away, near the entrance to the village (at the top of the hill). It is within easy walking distance of the three restaurants in the village (the largest of which is only open for lunch). I received messages from the owner (Mr. Mateus) on the day of the reservation, asking me to confirm the time of arrival. The hotel does not have staff in attendance during the day, but once I had confirmed the arrival time, Sra. Ana was there to welcome us and to provide the room keys. She was lovely. Payment is taken at the time of check in. There are only two payment options - bank transfer (which is easy is you have a Portuguese bank account) or by cash. There is an ATM in the village if more cash is needed. Sra. Ana also takes the breakfast order at the time of check in. Breakfast consists primarily of cold food items: cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, cake, ham and cheese. Freshly cooked eggs are also available, along with tea, coffee and toast. There was plenty of food to fill us up. We were happy with our 'Deluxe Double Room' and our daughter's Twin Room. They were clean and well presented. There was a shared outdoor terrace next to our room.

Our main concern was the lack of internet service. Four of us all tried to connect using different devices. Whilst we were able to connect to the wifi network without a problem, the network itself did not have an internet connection. I contacted the owner to report this problem and he told me that none of the previous guests had ever reported a problem (yet there are a number of reviews that specifically mention the poor internet, or lack of it). He seemed to lack an understanding of the technology, as he suggested that we were using an incorrect password. I had to reiterate a number of times that we were successfully connected to the wifi but that there was no internet service. I suggested that rebooting the router might reactivate the service. He sent his nephew to the house to investigate and sometime later told us that he had attended and that there was in fact a wifi signal - once again not understanding the problem! Yes, there was a wifi signal because we had all connected to it - but the network had no internet service. He then told me that he was unable to fix the internet service problem as it was a weekend. Fortunately for us, two of us have Portuguese mobile phones with data service. The following morning, whilst we were eating breakfast, the nephew returned to the hotel and seemed to be rebooting the router. Some minutes later, he announced that "It's working now" and left. When my grandson checked his phone, the same problem existed. We were leaving the hotel after breakfast, so it was no longer a problem for us. In fairness to the hotel, the problem might have been an outage at the network provider, but the lack of understanding shown by the owner was frustrating. Of a minor nature - there is a corkscrew with an attached bottle opener in the kitchen drawer, but the bottle opener is broken and useless. That will probably also make it difficult to turn the corkscrew to open a bottle of wine.
