"Quaint but very tired"

5.0

Full of character, not your average room. Clean toilet block Quiet surroundings Lots of period pieces as decoration e.g. Edison Phonograph

Nobody around when we arrived, no instructions on where to go. Carriage was open so we let ourselves in. Mobile number just rang and rang, we found a landline number and eventually the host came over to see us. There’s a fine line between charming and tired. Unfortunately this property was on the wrong side of the line. Door wouldn’t close properly or lock, lots of damp (water dripped in overnight), net curtains only so no privacy at night we had to put (the already stained) towels up as makeshift curtains. Host said oh it’s old, it leaks a bit, but mirrors were also caked in dust and cobwebs. Nothing a good clean and 5 minutes with a carpenter wouldn’t fix! Despite advising we were gluten and lactose intolerant well in advance and it being acknowledged our host could not provide a breakfast of bacon and eggs. Seemed disinterested and suggested a local cafe despite breakfast being promised previously (and included in the price) Heating wasn’t great, plinth heater was broken with exposed wires. Other heater just about worked but took a lot of figuring out to unlock and turn on.

"Fantastic stay, would try one of the other options another time"

7.0

The accommodation was extremely interesting and quirky, well maintained and the staff were amazing. The facilities were as described and for what is effectively a camping toilet facilities they were above expectations.

The only negative I have is the size of the bed, as i am over 6 foot the bed is a standard double and enclosed on 3 sides so was cramped for me, my wife was fine. Saying that the quality of mattress and bedding was excellent.

"Disappointing"

4.0

Location & imagery of the wagon

The wagon was dirty & unkempt, spiderwebs, dust and dirty underwear left by a previous guest under the bed. The lock on the wagon didn't work so we had to sleep in the wagon with the knowledge that the door was unlocked. Breakfast was a disappointment presentation could of been better with higher quality items rather than supermarket shop Bought.

Such a unique experience with so much charm. Neal and Tracey are a lovely couple and we met his parents and the housekeeper too who were very welcoming and friendly.

A unique setting to get away from it all. The staff were so helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Hard to beat

I love the fact that everything was kept as close to original as possible. Staying in this vintage showmans wagon you get a small taste of the way of life back then. With the benefits at having modern heating, lighting and even the TV😆
