Monte Velho Equo-Resort

Small hotel - not many clients. Architecture and decoration is great. Staff is super friendly. Surroundings are amazing - the fields, the lake, the horses. Quiet and peaceful atmosphere.

The breakfast is below expectation - eggs were overcooked and variety was low (bread, fruit, cheese, etc). Should pay more attention on decoration details - you cannot charge 300€/night and then use small IKEA furniture (glasses, mugs, etc).

We loved every second of our short stay here. Friendly staff, fantastic room, great pool and hot tub and delicious food. The views are just fabulous. The horses here are exceptional, the equestrian facilities are amazing and all the staff are so knowledgeable and welcoming. I will come back to ride next year! I can’t wait!

Nothing

This is hands down the best resort I've been to in Portugal. Wonderful middle of nowhere, super calm, with breathtaking views. It offers amazing opportunities to relax both by the pool and on the terrace, as well as through activities (I have no experience horse riding, but I've been just fine with the hikes, canoeing, and cycling). The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. Also, I loved how everything is available 24/7, just trusting guests to do the right thing. The 'Honesty Bar' is a fantastic idea, and since I'm more of a night creature, I also had a great time relaxing in the sauna at midnight on my own, with a panoramic view of the night sky :-)

The only thing that could use a touch of improvement is the food and wine, but there was absolutely nothing wrong with it, just slightly uninteresting (especially the breakfast). But the only thing I actually disliked was not being able to stay for longer, and I'm certainly going to be back soon!

THey are almost always fully booked.. very difficult to book a room.. Be a year ahead...

Staff is just great and very welcoming. We love it and will definitely come back.
