Casa do Alambique

The location of the house is truly excellent: right in the middle of the vineyards, with a stunning view of the mountain. The bedrooms and the bathroom are comfortable, and the setting has a lot of potential.

Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was very disappointing. The kitchen is old and poorly equipped, and the living room feels inadequate. Although we reported some issues halfway through our stay – and they did bring dish towels, replaced some ceiling lights, and added a wooden spoon and a knife – many problems remained unresolved. The utensils do not match, the crockery is mismatched, the cutlery has permanent stains, and several lights do not work. There wasn’t a single floor or table lamp in the entire house. One of the sockets came off when trying to plug in a device, one of the oven burners did not work, the fridge door was missing shelves, and we found several cobwebs. The trash bin had both its lid and pedal broken, which made it unpleasant to use. During the last two days of our eight day stay we had no hot water, and when we contacted the property, we never received any reply. Another negative point is that the adjacent plot of land, although supposedly not part of the property, was dirty and overgrown. It was directly connected to the house by a flimsy wooden gate without a latch, which gave a sense of neglect and lack of separation. It is a pity, because the place is beautiful and could offer a wonderful stay, but the house urgently needs better maintenance, cleaning, and attention to detail.

electricity varies but could be due the power supply, so can not complain if not depending of the property itself

Maison typique en lave volcanique en face du pico dans un quartier isolé et au calme. La maison est une ancienne maison où l'on faisait le vin, la presse est encore en place dans le salon. Keybox pour une grande flexibilité. Maison propre climatisée. Le jardin au milieu des vignes avec la vue sur le volcan est splendide. Maison propre, lits impeccables. Connection wifi avec les codes sans soucis. Machine à laver le linge dans une annexe(difficile à trouver car aucune indication). La maison est dans un lieu joli, ayant fait le tour de l'île, les villages de cabrito et arcos et leurs piscines naturelles sont coquets et longent la route de la côte splendide.

L'équipement de la cuisine est insuffisante: des verres à vin sur l'île du vin pour déguster celui-ci seraient bienvenus ; pas de sucre, pas de papier aluminium, pas de papier cuisson, pas d'huile et vinaigre, pas de poêle, porte du frigo cassée donc pas de possibilité de mettre des bouteilles. Ce sont des détails qui expliquent que nous mettons 9 et non 10.

Beautifully located with a perfect view on pico mountain (if weather wais goodenough). Easy and flexible check in/ check out. Has all the necessary kitchen utensils and amenities you need for your every day life. Close to walking paths and the rocky cliffs.

Beds were a bit hard but still perfectly fine.

We loved this place! It has everything you’d need for a longer stay: kitchen, garden, grill, two rooms and a bathroom. We’ve been there for a couple of days at end of may, and during that season at night you can listen to the cagarros, an endemic bird of the Azores, an incredibly experience. The place is well located on the island so that’s also a plus. We would definitely recommend it!
