Chamodya Home Stay

I had a very nice and specious room with a large balcony offering a spectacular view of the green lush valley and a waterfall. The environment is quiet and full of jungle and animal life, which is amazing especially after dark (look for fire flies!) . This hotel is a 20min walk away from the busy city center, which was perfect for me. I did not come here to party (but still could do that if I wanted do). The famous railway is very close as well a multiple nice restaurants and hangouts. You can easily walk from this place to the waterfall and Ella Rock, a must-do! Breakfast is good and served at an even higher terrace with great views. The owner has been super kind and helpful to me. I had been in an accident and suffered injuries, and she has been very caring. On my last day I asked for a transfer to the train station including a very last minute visit to the Nine Arches Bridge. She arranged it for me and I got a fair price. If you are looking mostly for nature and peace, this is an amazing place and I can highly recommend it. I definitely want to come back here again.

Nothing was bad. My room did not have an AC (not sure if other rooms do have this), but at night it cools off here and I did have a large fan. So it was no problem at all for me.

It was so beautiful, overlooking the mountains and a waterfall. Additionally the hostess and her family made me feel so welcomed, safe and at home.

Amazing view directly outside our room looking across at waterfall and as we were facing East we watched the sun rise. But a bit cloudy today. The Breakfast was amazing . Avocado on toast, fresh fruit , Sri Lankan pancakes. Owner helped us get the right bus to Tangelle. Thank you. Would recommend 100%.

Well I understand this is a business owner family. They are very kind and they try to make your stay smooth. I appreciate their help and kindness. There were great breakfast made by them and Tuktuk were arranged by them in a split second. Thank you for this. Maybe I would rate 6 or 7 if it wasn’t for your kindness and help! I choose the deluxe room option so I had a great view towards Ella !

The location wasn’t close to the main road. So in order to get there it’s probably a 20 min walk with ups and downs, mostly uphill or around 500 rupees to get to the main road by Tuktuk. The hot shower worked for the first 2-3 minutes then it gets cold. It happened in the 2 nights I stayed there. I slept in the room with 2 small lizards. A bit annoying but we survived!

Wonderful view of the waterfall and Ella’s rock. Sunrise was magical. Very peaceful with friendly family. Breakfast is excellent with lots of it. You will not go hungry. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The location is very good- 10 mns to Ella train station, walking (with caution) on the train tracks (in this way, you avoid the steep climbing). The host will give you indications. The whole family is incredibly nice. I asked for an electric kettle and got it immediately. I received a packed breakfast when I had to checked out at 5.30 am. The views are incredible. Hot water, very nice and clean room, comfortable bed, a small fridge in the room, very nice terrace. A really outstanding homestay in Ella.
