Calvinia Magic Garden

This was the most amazing stay I've had. Ever. Henri and Sonja were the most fantastic hosts. It really is a "magical" place. Peaceful, artistic, unique and welcoming. I loved it. Thank you.

The hosts Sonja and Henry were super welcoming and invited me to the braai lap and dinner. Met some really interesting people.

Spotlessly clean, comfortable braai area. The hantam always has mozzies so take some anti mozzy for your stay. M/garden is also away from the main road where lorry/truck noise at night is a problem. We had a very enjoyable stay, thank you.

I would have to find fault, our stay was hassle free and fun.

The room was clean, the bed comfortable and atmosphere welcoming. There was an air-conditioning and misquote repellent provided to ensure a good night's rest. The best was the outside shower , I was traveling with my cats so it was lovely for me and them that I could sit outside and rest with them and be safe.I was alone traveling from Kliprivier to Dwarskersbos and it was the perfect stop over for me.

There is not much not to like. I actually can not say.

Huge thank you to Sonja, who has created such a beautiful space, its interesting, quirky and every space had been turned into a beautiful expression of creativity. Sonja's painting are an absolute treat (tip: ask her about her painting and what inspired her to paint them.) If you love art and staying in a creative place that is full of antiques and quirky items, this is the spot for you. The best was the smell of fresh bread that is bakes every day at her bakery, we were treated to a loaf, fresh out the over and it was the best bread we ever tasted, think being a kid and having your strawberry jam and butter on freshly makes warm white bread, simply delicious! If you are not open-minded or don't appreciate art and creativity, give this spot a skip, but if you want to experience a little bit of magic with amazing hosts and lots of unique spots to chill or just wonder round and see the special spaces created, then this spot is a must! We feel we are part of the Magic Garden Clan and we will be back again and again.
