"Fantastisch!"

Het was een erg mooi gerestaureerde quinta en met alle voorzieningen en erg vriendelijke eigenaren. Leila en Joao zijn enorm toegewijd, gastvrij en enthousiast. Op onze 46e trouwdag verraste Leila ons met een bijzonder ontbijt en een heerlijke fles bubbels van hun eigen winery. De dag erop hadden ze zelf een feest en heb ik de hele familie ontmoet en tevens de prachtige oude keuken met de originele en nog steeds werkende houtoven mogen bewonderen. Elke ochtend kregen we een gevarieerd ontbijt met vers fruit, yoghurt, vleesbeleg, kaas, vruchtensap, zelfgemaakte jams. Overheerlijk. De gezamenlijke keuken/eet-/woonkamer is ruim en gezellig. Het zwembad was heerlijk om af te koelen, maar om te zwemmen had het een klein beetje dieper mogen zijn voor mij. De kamer was -ondanks de hitte- binnen koel. Leila en Joao hebben een mooie collectie wijnen, een wine-tasting bij Sem Igual is zeker de moeite waard om te boeken. Van daaruit kun je gemakkelijk naar Guimaraes, Braga, Amarante, Porto en de Dourovallei. De laatste twee zijn ook te bereiken met de trein, Joao had dat perfect voor ons uitgezocht: met de trein naar Pinhao en daarvandaan een boottocht op een rabela over de Douro rivier. Heel veel dank Leila, Joao en Vera voor dit voor ons onvergetelijk verblijf.
