Weltevreden Estate

The property is gorgeous, we loved the old characteristics of the building and the thatched roof. We really felt relaxed and could unwind after lots of travel. It’s close by to stellenbosch town centre and the staff were lovely. The breakfast was excellent too.

Unfortunately the facilities in the building were not ideal. The toilet and shower are in the same room as the bed, only divided by a broken vanity screen. This is unhygienic and really doesn’t give any privacy at all. Other pieces of furniture broken or very tatty and needs replacing, including a blind which isn’t fit for purpose. We had to wait over 5mins for the shower to heat up, and the kettle plug is not long enough to reach the plug socket from the table so had to place on the floor. Although we got by for our stay, I wouldn’t have wanted to stay much longer.

The property is beautiful

No air-conditioning. No hot water. Hot stuffy room since there is no air-conditioning resulting in windows needing to be opened resulting in be bombarded with mosquitoes and chicken making you up at 4am. So no sleep. And ti add insult to injury the manager feels 25% redundant will make us go away. To add further insult, the guards come and tell you not to speak in a normal tone at 20h45 as a neighbor is complaining that they can hear your conversation. What a massive disappointment this booking has been.

Amazing breakfast

The chickens at the hatchery woke me up a bit early, but they also add to the ambiance, so no problem there.

Beautiful farm house and rooms. Very comfortable. Excellent breakfast!
