LeFay Cottage at Little Washington

The cottage is very well appointed with beautiful and feminine touches including antiques, original oil paintings, and comfortable luxurious towels and bedding. The kitchen is very well stocked, and the property is private and quiet.

Unfortunately, the A/C was not working when we arrived. Once the owner was made aware she did everything she could to get the issue resolved including having window units delivered and installed. When the unit was unable to be fixed during our stay she offered us a night stay no charge.

This place is special, and it is run by one of the best hosts that I have ever encountered. It was a wonderful location: cozy, immaculately decorated (in this case for the holidays), and delightfully charming. The owner has an incredible eye for and commitment to taking care of the smallest details. It somehow feels comfortable and family-friendly (we brought our four children) yet simultaneously elegant (beautiful hardwood floors, great art, and exuding charming cottage chic). Though the LeFay Cottage excels in providing you the sense that you have gotten away from it all, there are a surprising number of great eating and entertainment options within a short drive: not only the famous Inn at Little Washington (just minutes away) but we found other truly great local restaurants, bars, and wineries. We appreciated the quick access to skiing, the Luray Caverns, and the Shenandoah National Park. Would recommend it for a brief getaway, a longer staycation, or as an intimate wedding venue.

what a magnificent cozy retreat! I felt like a fairy princess with my Prince Charming. Thank you Sally Ann for making us feel so welcome in your beautiful home.

The view and the quiet. The cottage was the perfect place for a hiking trip—in the park in minutes but super comfortable at night, great shower and comfy beds. Kitchen was more than adequate and we took advantage of the suggestion of the corner store in Sperryville for some delicious trout. we watched deer and a groundhog from the porch in morning and evening, enjoyed the stars and fireflies at night. One of my favorite things about renting homes is experiencing the gracious hospitality of hosts like Sally Anne.

Nothing! even the traffic noise frankly just sounds like waves. My husband was a tad skeptical of the formal, feminine decor, but once he walked in, he was going on about the view, the quiet, the comfort.

Such an enchanting cottage - mostly due to the vision of the owner, I’d think. While the cottage itself is well- built (not drafty, good room sizes, useful kitchen area), it’s the ‘Shabby Chic’-ish decor (if you’re familiar - swirly cabbage rose patterns, soft lovely colors, etc) that makes it so sweet.

Well, we can’t change the weather but id like to go back in warmer, hiking weather when things are in bloom. Til then, vineyards will suffice!!
