"A gem in the Highlands, a must stay."

Richard and Jane are outstanding and very welcoming hosts, couldn’t have asked for anything more. Extremely clean room with equally extremely comfy beds. Excellent range of breakfast options and the breakfast itself was exquisite.

No complaints about the property.

Jane and Richard were great hosts and really went above and beyond to make us and our dog feel welcomed. The room was cosy, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was superb!

We were welcomed like old friends by Jane and Richard, even though we only stayed for one night. Shortbreads and coffee were most welcome after a long drive from the previous stay. I had the vegetarian Scottish breakfast and it was terrific. Our two daughters enjoyed the games in the conservatory. We got some useful travel and dining recommendations. I enjoyed a nice chat with Richard about some China experiences. Short but sweet—and overall a great reminder of why we should support B&Bs, which are often far superior to impersonal self-catered places with "keys in lockboxes"!

"A warm welcome in a peaceful location."

The welcome from Jane & Richard was lovely. They were friendly & helpful and made us feel very at home. The tea & cake on arrival were much appreciated. The bedroom was peaceful and comfortable, and the breakfast provided was very tasty- it set us up for the day! The bathroom was a little old fashioned but had a good shower and was nice & roomy. Aurora b & b is in a beautiful setting, on a quiet lane, but only a short drive into Thurso. Visits to Dunnet Head and Dunnet Bay are recommended, as well as to John o’ Groats, of course. Overall, a very pleasant stopover, on our travels to Orkney.
