Second time I've stayed...its a lovely place

It was a lovely clean old fashioned farm house in North Essex with lovely views and surroundings.

I was surprised and disappointed there was no breakfast although I had to leave early for a trip I was booked on. So it didn’t matter to much to me. On arrival there was a telephone number to call and the owner directed me to my room. A shared bathroom rather than en suite that most bed and breakfasts have these days. That is probably because it was a farm house. Also no keys to the bedrooms and another guest walked into my room unexpectedly.

Great location. Clean warm, comfortable rooms.

Animals at the property. Can't lock room door when you go out. Pin lock when in the room but can be shaken out. Can't eat in the room or kitchen. Need to ask owner for plates.

A stunning 400+ year-old house at the end of a track in the most quiet and peaceful of rural locations surrounded by open country and wonderful woodlands, yet less than 5 miles from Colchester. Mine was a 3 night bed-only stay. This was fine as an excellent dining/breakfast room was available for DIY breakfast if required. The landlady was charming: very professional, friendly and helpful without being at all intrusive. The room and shared bathroom were immaculately clean and the bed very comfortable...and you could sleep in peace with the windows open and not hear the roar of traffic. Excellent.
